Just a general question about the immigration status after ILR has been granted.

Does the applicant automatically get a UK passport after ILR is granted?.

Does a UK passport have to applied for at a later date and what is the time frame.

If a Uk passport has been obtained, can the Thai passport be retained?. Does this equate to dual nationallity.

I think I read somewhere that the Thai authorities take a dim view of Thai's seeking foreign citizenship and would remove Thai citizenship.

If so can Thai's with a UK passport/ILR own land in Thailand.

Thanks for any advise

Totally legal and no loss of rights to land. Law was changed in 1992 to allow dual nationality and sometime in 1999 laws on land ownership were relaxed to allow ownership of land by Thais married to foreigners.

As for ILR, you need to spend at least 1 year on ILR befor you undergo the naturalisation proceedure. Requires taking a 'life in the UK' test, and I beleive tests of English. Others more qualified can help you on this last point.

No

Once your wife has been lawfully in the UK for three years and has indefinite leave, she may apply for naturalisation as a British citizen. Once she is naturalised, she may then apply for a British passport. There are other conditions, but that's it in a nutshell.

Yes and yes.

They have no objection to dual nationality. By way of example, both my wife and son hold both UK and Thai passports.

Yes.

Scouse.
