About 13 hours including stopping for fuel and a bite to eat. It's about 925 kilometers.

We must have been speeding (a bit) when we came from Chiang Rai to Pattaya in December. :o

Left Chiang Rai around 9am. Thai friend was driving the SUV. Had a short lunch break (1/2 hour). A stop-over in Phitsanoluk (45 minutes ?), a fairly long stop in Nakhon Sawan (close to 2 hours) and a couple of short fuel/bathroom stops, and were back in Pattaya shortly after 11 pm. So, driving-wise it was about 11 hours.

Our other friends were making the same trip on their motorbikes, but they stayed in Nakhon Sawan overnight and got back to Pattaya the next afternoon.

I get from Pattaya to Lampang in 6 hrs or a little less most of the time (with one piss and fuel stop just after Nakhon Sawan). Then another 1.5 hrs to Chiangrai. so all in all about 7.5 - 8.0 hrs max. Yes of course I'm driving quite fast, but with no traffic with the new road it's a breeze. I take my own sandwiches and drink/coffee so don't need to stop.

So you are saying that you average over 123 kilometers per hour? Sorry but I don't believe it. Either that or you are a definite menace on the highway.

I started last Saturday at 7.45 in Bangkok and arrived in Lampang (BigC) at exactly 1.15pm.

I think it's about 600 kilometers from Bangkok to Lampang. Apparently you are a highway menace too. :o

I regularly drive Sattahip - Chiang Mai (820 Km) average at about 100 km/h. I must admit pushing it a bit, but the roads are good to resonable. The record is 7 hours 50 minutes. So Chiang Rai should be 9 to 10 hours.
