I do this thru my Blackberry which has a built-in GPRS modem, so I guess that would be a minimum requirement. Most browsers on mobile phones are hard work, but I have seen the Opera browser in action on a friends Nokia (can't remember model - sorry) and it was cool.

I do this all the time with an Acer laptop and a Nokia. I selected DTAC service having read, a few years ago when I set everything up, that AIS has problems with their GPRS implementation.

First, you need a phone with bluetooth and GPRS capabilities, then your phone account needs to be activated for GPRS.

Then you need to pair your phone and laptop, which should be easy by following the wizard in XP and the Nokia.

Then you need to setup your cell phone (access point, packet data etc.). You can find help through the Nokia website or your provider.

Lastly you need to create a bluetoogh dial-up connection in XP using the bluetooth modem. Remember to set the modem's advanced properties according to the information your provider has given you (for DTAC it is: AT+CGDCONT=1,"ip","www.dtac.co.th").

Again, I brought my laptop and phone to Nokia in Bangkok and they did everything for me.

If you still need to buy a phone, go for the Nokia 3110 classic. 3,600 something Bath, has bluetooth, mini usb cable and a good gprs/edge capable modem. Can't beat the price!

Only thing, the phone does not charge of the usb plug, so extended periods of time will see the battery drain fast if not hooked up to the charger!

Download Nokia PC suite (the mention the exact http address in the manual), hook up with USB cable and connect through PCsuite. Easiest way.

Bluetooth also works pretty well, but slightly more complex to get going (although you don't really need the pcsuite to connect when using BT)

Some Nokia phones come with the Nokia Suite disk included. If the phone is GPRS EDGE capable, Nokia Suite will set up everything for you. If the phone is EDGE capable and there is no disk, you can download the correct version of Nokia Suite off the Internet. I wouldn't waste the money for phone that isn't EDGE capable.

Monty is correct about the 3110 Classic. It's a lot of phone for the baht.

I bought a Nokia E51 and it had the Nokia Suite disk and the data cable included with it. I don't really see a lot of difference between Bluetooth and data cable battery life when connected to the Internet. In either case, the data cable plug is very small and you can keep the charger plugged in along side the data cable. My laptop battery dies before the phone battery when not connected to the mains.
