dekka007
That will take it to 13,000 Economy return to BKKSIN on a Q Fare ticket economy.... Forget TG if I am gonna pay that to SIN then I will go Singapore airlines rather than the crap seats, crap IFE, crap food in TG. I think TG will have to take a serious look at their marketing and business model before it's too late for them
NanLaew
Well I think its well known TG is an incompetent mismanaged mess which is big part reason its doing so poorly. If govt didnt prop it up, we all know it would be DOA. Face issue is the only reason it survives. Yeah, but it's a beautiful face.
BEENTHEREDONETHAT
Does anyone know if TG did not have enough passengers to justify the flight to NY? Or could it be that they feel a fare increase would not be competitive? Or could the short hops be more profitable?

Thai is one of my perferes airlines (not that i have tried to many) And it is one of only 2 airlines with direct flights from Copenhagen to Bangkok. I just used them for my trip to Taiwan with a 3 day stopover in bangkok and i must admit that their fleet of 747's are getting quite old. But i do feel that even so Thai gives good value for the money i paid 800 Eur for the trip to Taiwan and most other companies wanted 1000 EUR for the same trip. Also Thai is one of the airlines that offer the most legroom in ecomomy and i have quite liked the food i recived on my Thai flights. And yes my thai wife also perfers thai ans so does most thaigirls i know so they shure do have a faithful customer base. Thomas
jalansanitwong
Even though TG enjoys 80-90% full flights there has been a problem for many years of Thai passengers flying for free in Ist and business class with free hotels thrown in as well. The European and US routes are probably the most heavily abused. No guessing who these people are! .I remember about 7 years ago TG advertised for a new head CEO one of the requirements for the job was that he must not have a (recent)criminal record involving a capital offence ie murder or narcotics.True!! avvocato
Our flight on July 24th JFK to BKK was cancelled. We have already had the monies returned via our credit card company. Now, trying to rebook, and the prices are through the roof! Cathay Pacific airlines seems to have the best prices from Miami, but still looking. Any more ideas? Try Korean Air from Chicago. You'll make two stops - ORD and then Seoul. The price from Philly was about US$1,000 for this trip in August. Delta was the code share.

In the US for example, such a small minority have the strongest lockhold you can imagine on corruption. In Thailand, every person from the CEO to guy cleaning the toilet has a scam going. dekka007
Thai is one of the airlines that offer the most legroom in ecomomy TG is one of the worst for legroom in economy compared to CX, SIA, BA etc. combined with the worst IFE. CX new IFE and Cabin's are amazing really - the best in the industry if you ask me at the moment. Apart from the A380 cabins that is. Try some of the other airlines other than TG you will be pleasantly suprised. My GF will take CX or SIA anyday over TG she says especially in J class. As someone who is 6'2", and who has had so little leg room in BA on a flight from London to Bangkok, that he now avoids BA (except when the company's paying, as then I'm in business class), you're talking crap. Thai has more legroom in the regular seats than most. (maybe not if you're at bulkhead, or ironically, at the emergency exits if you're the one in the window seat, but that's true of all airlines. I haven't flown CX or SIA, but BA stands for Bloody Awful in my book (at least in economy). Thai's IFE only sucks on their old clunkers, like all the 747s flying to Europe. If you fly one of their newer planes to Tokyo, it's actually pretty good. (and you can blame the Germans for why they're still flying 747s to Europe, as they were supposed to have been replaced by A380s, but they're delayed...) I think I'm right in saying, TG's A380s were not due for a few years yet, so Airbus are not responsible for TG currently operating clapped-out 744s with minimal IFE, in Economy at least. Thai also blamed, last year, late-delivery by Airbus for their still operating elderly A300-600s, wrongly since their (then) planned-replacements were B777s. But you can always trust Thai Airways to blame anybody except their own poor management, for their problems ! simcity
that is pretty scary Fuel surcharge hits $1000 Fuel levies may soon exceed airfares The fuel surcharge will increase on a return Sydney-UK flight rise from $773 to $1076 on Japan Airlines, from $526 to $892 on Thai Airways and from $588.60 to $829.60 on Malaysian Airlines. if i may: http://business.theage.com.au/fuel-levies-...80620-2u0n.html

Yes but T%hai's are not exactly big travellers are they in the numbers required. Its the foreigners they need and they market themselves very heavily in Singapore - thing is they can only compete on price and that is slipping away. For the same price SG is miles better - I would also rather pay 16k on Swiss in Biz than 13k in Thai economy with no IFE

As i said i havn't tryed to many airlines as only 2 airlines fly directly from Copenhagen to bangkok and thai is one of them. I dont really like the stopover and since Thai is not that expensive i dont use alternate airlines. But i tried Air France last year they had less legroom than Thai but on the way home we were upgrated to economy plus and there the legroom was better but still only as much as thai. I have done some Research and acording to seatguru.com Thai has a 34" seat pich and the ones you mentioned have 32" and also since Thai has no IFE in the 747 seats you dont have the box under the seat. But i do agree that the interiour looks quite dated at the 747 that thai use to Denmark. BTW i was upgrated to buisness on my flight from Taipei to Bangkok a few weeks ago that was a quite nice experience.
baboon
On the subject of surcharges, didnt BA recently increase their fuel charges and force ALL ticket holders, regardless of date of issue to cough up at the airport?

THai, have 9 seats only each row).
