BaBorJamie
Thanks in advance for any help offered regarding this matter, cheers. Let me fill you in on the story...... My girlfriend(thai and living in krabi) and I(Uk and living in uk), are currently nearing the end of putting together an application for her to come over to the UK on a tourist visa for two weeks holiday in mid july. The question i have concerns air line tickets for the trip. The guideline section on the visa website advises not to pay for the tickets, but instead to reserve them. I'm guessing that to show a return ticket back to Thailand will be of great importance to the application and i feel that is imperative to our application. I have contacted a travel firm to ask about this and the lady said that to reserve tickets and to pay for them at a later date is not possible(there i was thinking that this was going to be easy!!!!), is there anybody out there who has applied for tourist visa's for thai national's coming into the uk who can offer me any help on this matter. Specifically, i would like to know if tickets can be reserved until a decision has been made on the visa application, and then if successful, payment made at that point. I'm thinking that its probably easier to just surf onto the thai airways site right now and just book them, but if in the unlikely event of her application being rejected then i am £800 out of pocket. Anyway, any help, advice or information would be great. Once again, my sincere thank you's to anybody who can offer any advice. scotty123456789
Hi Jamie, Not too sure regarding tourist visas, my wife is here on a settlement visa. But like you said, paying the air tickets, then the visa refused, is not a good thing I think just showing you have sufficient funds to buy the tickets, also showing sufficient funds you can both maintain yourselfs should be ok. Id hang on for the Scouse, he knows best. Good luck mate Scotty Edited June 14, 2008 by scotty123456789

Mario2008
Check different airlines and their ticket rules, wich states the rules regarding canceling the ticket, changing the flight date etc. Some tickets can not be refunded, but many tickets can (for a certain price, mentioned in he ticket rules). If you have trouble understanding just explain to a travel agent and make sure they book a refundable ticket or a ticket that can be refundable for a low price. http://travel.thaivisa.com/ seems so far to be ok and booking in Thailand is cheaper than in the UK. BaBorJamie
Guys, firstly let me say a big thank you to everybody who has offered advice and help. I truly appreciate your effort and kindness. Thank you. The problem has been overcome. My girlfriend knows somebody who works for the airlines and she has helped her acquire the necessary reservations for the plane tickets. We have the paperwork to show that as well, so mission accomplished. . Just a heads up to let people know and to stop them wasting any time posting further replies to my initial question. Have a good day and thanks again. Regards Jamie

Good luck mate Scotty For confirmed airline reservations with PAY LATER provision, email Khun Mike, [email protected], http://www.greentravel2000.com/ I've dealt with him for several years, usually make my ticket reservation then at some later date bite the bullet and do an ATM transfer to their bank account to pay for it, betting on the US $$ vs baht rate of exchange. Am in Oregon right now, reservations back in January and paid for in March, boo, much better rate of exchange right now! Mac

richard_smith237
At such a busy time we had to confirm and pay for flights. My girlfriend circumnavigated this with a refundable ticket, at a loss of 2000 Baht for a cancellation.
