I'm hoping someone can help. I have been using the latest version of Firefox 3 since the release .. all working fine. Then after the recent TV update, I can't log in with FF. Obviously, I can log in with Opera. According to support, here are no restriction on my account.

On FF, the login seems to work up through the screen immediately after login, i.e., "You are logged in as 'klikster' .."

Then I see the redirect to TV's forum index page .. but is shows that I'm not logged in. The redirect almost looks like a second screen draw after the first .. where thew redirect starts to happen, then "changes its mind", like a default condition.

I have flushed the cache a number of time, deleted ThaiVisa cookies, deleted the TV password in FF password manager, unchecked the "Remember Me". I've gone throug the very tedious "double cpatcha" "lost my password" ordeal .. still no cigar.

A couple of exchanges with TV support hasn't fixed the problem.

So what am I missing?

Have you set FF back to Defaults?

If not you try that. Right click in the empty part of the upper FF Menu bar follow by left click on Customize and than click on Restore Default Set.

Hope that helps as it has done for me.

Cheers.

Yeah, this is a very annoying bug that Firefox has had for AGES with most online forums...in my case deleting the cookies at the time did the trick, but if that wasn't enough Reimar's suggestion should work.

What *all* will 'resetting to defaults' do to FF. Does that delete any private data, othe cookies? I really don't want to delete the dozens of passwords to other sites/forums .. or .. ?

No, not delete anything, just set back the FF to the standard Layout without the applied Extensions to show, but you can enable them back.

Cheers.

That did not work.

FYI, I unchecked the "remember me" box before logging in using my newly acquired password.

Same symptoms as before "you are logged in as 'klikster' .." but fails at redirect.

No TV cookie in FF

Went back, hard flush on the cache, ticked the "remember me" .. (oddly, the login & password fields were automatically populated this time) .. same result.

Still no TV cookie showing in FF.

Remember, login was working just fine with FF the day before the TV upgrade.

Have you try to uninstall FF and reinstall after a reboot of your computer? If not, tr that, but not forget to reboot the computer after unistalling FF.

Cheers.

One more thing which may helps: download Winbubble from TV Download or HERE and install it. There is one function which you should use: Take Ownership of an file or directory. Use that for to take the Ownership of Documents and Settings and of Users completely so there is't a write protection and FF can write back required data.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

I'm not about to start uninstalling and reinstalling software to try and fix something that TV broke.

I will either browse with Opera, read without posting .. or ..

I do wonder how many people like Donna and I have had the same experience. I expect to see some new usernames popping up. I know that multiple accounts are against the TOS, so I haven't done that .. and I won't.

I suggested such a scenario to the support person who emailed me, but they never answered yea nor nay. So if TV is not interested in trying to fix TV's problem, why should I be?

Edit: If it is an "ownership" issue, maybe it's a "files permission" problem on the server. Happens all the time .. BUT, a good UNIX tech know how to find and fix those kinds of problems

I am having no such problem using Firefox 3 so it is not a problem every user is having. But I did have to redo my homepage to the basic www.thaivisa.com/forum/ rather than a long name that was being accessed.

How you can be sure it's not a problem from your computer? You can't!

Think about: if many members having problems, there would be much more complaints and not just a very few! Isn't it?

And what's the deal just to uninstall, reboot and install a new one?! A matter of how many minutes? 5 maybe and that's all!

Oh, and Thank you that I could try to help you! Bye.

This got me to wondering so I tried something .. with my Opera Browser

MY old bookmark for Thaivisa was:

http://www. thaivisa.com/forum/ index.php? http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/

I tried logging in with this today and it failed (with Opera as well). ! Egad, says I!. Then, remembering this post, I shortened the browser address to:

http://www. thaivisa.com/forum/

And I was suddenly already logged in (see Donna's post above)

Firefox did not act in the same manner, but:

Under support authorzation, I tried to set up a new account. Okay, seemed to work. However, I could not login. When I looked to see if TV had set a cookie in FF .. no cookie.

I believe there is enough information in all this to suggest that it is not *just* my computer/Firefox. Add to that, I am able to login to all the webmaster and travel forums I usually visit. One difference is that most of them are either custom, PHPBB or vBulletin .. none are Invision.

Edit: Had to fix the long link above that the editor shorthened for me .. even the posts want to redirect.LOL!

An update on this issue:

Different computer, new hard drive, new password, fresh install of Firefox 3 .. same results .. "you are logged in as klikster, please .." then redirects to "you must have already .."

Login with Opera works fine.

pgrin, that pretty much parallels the problem I had/have. I can recommend the new version of Opera, BTW.

I just wonder if the problem might be a bad redirect situation .. like maybe if they had a mirror site up to save posts made during the changeover and ..

Please check the support forum for hints. Much of the problem seems to be the catch server system in use by Thai ISP holding outdated data which will not match up to current data on TV server. I am using FF3 on a Thai server without a problem since first day (when I had to trim the URL) so can not provide a fail safe answer but there are several suggestions in the support forum that might well work for you.

Strange things happening .. today, forgetting that I was surfing with FF rather than Opera, I clicked the same bookmark and was suddenly already logged in.
