Dear Forum,

I am trying to locate the herb sage or the Thai equivalent. If you know the Thai name for sage please write in script as well as transliteration. If you can direct me to a photo even better.

Thanks for your help - posted in Thai language as well.

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best

You don't say where you are, but if you're in Bangkok you can go to Villa, Tesco, Central and lots of other places (supermarkets, big shops that sell food, etc.) and look for small packets of green herbs with the word SAGE written on them. These will probably satisfy your requirements.

Wikipedia entry on sage-with pics

Sage isn't used in Asian cooking. I suppose it will grow here if planted, as it's native to the Mediterranean area and hence likely to be able to take the sun. I prefer the jars of sage leaves rather than ground sage. You can get at least the ground kind here in Korat.

Dear Forum,

Am in Trat, not in Bangkok - no western supermarkets.

The language thread showed sage as a transliteration (เซจ), and เสียง เอก ค่ะ?

I am looking for sage not as a herb in cooking but for using as tea to help with bad throats. Any local herbs that are equivalent?

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best

Bill Z
