November 18, 200421 yr Heh...you got to wonder what folks did to amuse themselves before Photoshop. Get on over to this chick's Blog and have a laugh! http://www.risawn.com/2004/11/merchandising.html
November 19, 200421 yr Author I enjoyed this post, from Jane Stillwater's blog: Liked the Scott Peterson trial? You'll LOVE the George Bush trial! Americans were fascinated by the trial of Scott Peterson. And if they liked the trial of the alleged murderer of just ONE pregnant woman, imagine how much America will love the trial of George Bush, a man who is responsible for the murder of possibly THOUSANDS of pregnant women! Was Laci shot, strangled or drowned? Did she suffer before she died? And what about her unborn child? We may never know for sure but you can imagine that she did. But what we DO know is that all across the Middle East, hundreds -- if not thousands -- of pregnant women have been shot, blown up, starved, irradiated and/or burned to death by napalm as a direct result of the actions of George W. Bush. To his credit, Bush agrees with the charges against him. "Any time an expectant mother is a victim of violence, two lives are in the balance, each deserving protection and each deserving justice," Bush said in an East Room ceremony at the White House recently. "If the crime is murder, and the unborn child's life ends, justice demands a full accounting under the law." News teams from all over the world are expected to cover the Bush trial. Did Bush actually kill all those pregnant women? Without a doubt. But perhaps his high-paid lawyers will be able to get him off with just a light sentence. The only sure thing about this trial is that Americans will be riveted to the edge of their seats until the verdict comes down. "Guilty!"
November 19, 200421 yr p1p~ You are really out there "on the fringe" old boy. Take three deep breaths and sit in that Lotus position for a few minutes. You'll be all right... BTW - did you look at that photoshopped blog I referenced? Was thinking of you when I ran across it as that seems to be the opinion of what a majority of folks think of Americans!

I'm afraid we simply don't credit at least 50% of you with that much intelligence and ability. You might like to have a look at sorry everybody and their, to date, 562 pages of photographic apologies to the rest of the world for the election result. Now, those contributors we do credit with brains and common sense.

November 20, 200421 yr Author All one can say about that "sorry everybody" site is that they are real sorry... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Boon, I would be most interested if you can point us to any equivalent site, publication, list of signatures or anything in ancient through modern history where substantive numbers of the citizens of a country have felt sufficiently strongly that they needed to apologise to the rest of the planet, about anything. (Hiroshima & Nagasaki do not count.)

Those folks who suscribe to "sorry america" certainly do not represent "Middle America" and the legions of the "Silent Majority". The "sorry america" crowd only have a voice because it's "news" and that of a freakish nature...

The point is that there has never been such a divisive government in power in the history of the USA and, certainly, never a government which inspires such mistrust and derision outside the US. This can not possibly be for "no reason." US citizens abroad are now referring to themselves as Canadian in greater numbers than ever before, there has to be a reason for this too. Why? The major political commentators are in broad agreement that the huge feelings of sorrow and desire to help the US has, almost completely been squandered totally away. Was this necessary? Why do US diplomats in Thailand now need several armed guards outside, and inside their homes? I know of no other country's representatives that need such protection. Why? Who should bear responsibility for this if not your current president? Who is the man who holds the doubtful privilege of possibly being the most reviled persona on the planet at present? Osama? No! Saddam? Certainly not. The only man on the planet whose decisions affect almost every single citizen of every country on the surface of the globe is the, so called, “Leader of the Free World”. If he is not making good decisions, every one of us suffers. To date, we have witnessed a wealth of bad choices, most often dictated by little more than prejudice and superstition, although in the guise of, so called, Christian or Family Values. Those who espouse these Krystian or Family Values believe it is better to allow their children to play with war weaponry and to watch pornographic displays of violence with blood, gore, guts severe injury and death on their television screens, rather than allowing a single seconds display of an errant nipple, the fountain of growth, health and happiness for the entire future of humanity. The logic escapes me.
November 21, 200421 yr p1p~ America has always been somewhat purtanical in it's views. Perhaps a holdover from the Mayflower days? Without getting into a lengthy diatribe to rebute your fine post I'll simply say everything changed on September 11th. The world and American up to that point had been living in a state of denial. Osama and his crew were out there as evidenced from the first Trade Center bombing in '92 or '93 - whenever. The Khobar Towers in east Africa, USS Cole etc. It took 3000 people dying all at once to get substantive action done. Anyhow, this government is not as divisive as you portray. I recall when Nixon was being impeached there was a greater hue and cry about how America was being "torn apart". Also recall when the VietNam protests were big news - kids being shot at Kent State by the National Guard, America was being "torn asunder"! Why diplomats in LOS need armed guards? Always been that way as long as I've been coming to Thailand. Especially up there in CM where you have a heavy presence of DEA etc. In conclusion I'll mention again it's the "lunitic fringe" who are getting the press and of whom you hear about the most. Whether they be Bible-thumping rednecks or way left "progressives" - those are the folks that get the news. Not the silent majority...
