Kf6vci Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 A few days ago, I sent a parcel from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya. the address was complete and correct, but written in English. Today, that parcel was returned. The recipient has a large home in the city, but maybe 94/4 Moo 10, Soi 17 is inadaquate? Followed by the correct postal code and PATTAYA CITY. the reason for this post is to warn you guys to write addresses in Thai. Bloody annoying, spending hundreds on postage for nothing.
simon43 Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 That address looks inadequate to me. What's the name of the main road where Soi 17 is located? Simon
Norrad Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Address definately is not right. Soi is very general and you would need to include a road or street name.
HarryHacker Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 The addy looks ok to me, I would put it down to bad luck!
Marvo Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Address definately is not right. Soi is very general and you would need to include a road or street name. Yeah, the Soi numbers are not very clear in Pattaya.
Cuban Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 (edited) Yeah, the Soi numbers are not very clear in Pattaya. There are many 'Soi 15s' dotted around the place and as mentioned above normally one would refer to "Jomtien Beach Road - Soi 15" or " Pattaya Beach Road - Soi 7" for example to give an idea of where the Soi (side road) is. Yes the 'Moo' number along with the plot and house number should work but I am not surprised that it did not. I have used EMS for post within Thailand a number of times (otherwise my staff deal with most of my post) where I have addressed in English, packages with addresses that I've been told 'work' correctly, not had a problem with lost post yet. Heng Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 If you have the Moo right, it'll get there. The Moo is more specific than you think. There should only be ONE Soi 17 in any Moo. Moo moo moo.
