August 9, 200817 yr Living as I do near Big C North Pattaya, I go up 2nd Road every day. I used to see the Red Line bus quite frequently, but haven't seen it for some time now. Has the company gone bust? Driven away by the baht bus mafia? All those shiny new bus stops are now worthless antiques, and the bus stops on Beach Road have *never* been used. Mind you the company didn't help itself, refusing to publish a timetable, and changing the times and routes several times without warning. Anyway RIP Pattaya bus service. On a similar note, it's been a long time since I've seen a baht bus on the southbound route between the Dolphin Roundabout and Pattaya Klang. The southbound lane is still there and the filter traffic light at Pattaya Klang is still in action, but no southbound busses. Another good idea gone west!
August 9, 200817 yr I presume these were the wheelchair accessible busses anounced a couple of years ago by the mayor to which i refered to in a previous post requesting information. I guess this was "vapor ware" which is a pity as it would have expanded my options.
August 9, 200817 yr I thought the baht bus mafia had the public bus service closed down years ago? There's been no Southbound traffic on Second Road since they made it one way all the way to the Dolphin Roundabout, which isn't a roundabout now as they've closed off one side of it meaning if you're coming from Nahklua to Beach Road you have to go up North Road and make a U-turn.
August 10, 200817 yr Author There's been no Southbound traffic on Second Road since they made it one way all the way to the Dolphin Roundabout Not true - there is a special southbound bus lane, which was for the use of special baht buses (there used to be one about every 10 mins or so). They travelled from City Hall, left at the Dolphin, south to Pattaya Klang, where they turned right and then onto Beach Road. As I said, the bus lane is still there, and the filter traffic light for the bus is still in operation. Actually this wastes time as the filter holds up all traffic for a good minute or so. Why have it working when there are no buses to use it?
