Seeking A Heavy-duty Guitar Leather Gig Bag?

I want to get a heavy custom-made padded leather gig bag for my guitar in LOS?

If you know of anyone with experience making them, I certainly would appreciate your posing some info.

Alternately, I would consider a well made hard shell case.

Thanks!

EBAY!!!!!!!! or musiciansfriend dot com. Many quality cases (at affordable prices) for strats, Les paul, SG"s Teli's you name it! and have them ship it to your Thai address. I have a Strat, and a Les Paul (both American) here in the LOS. and would not even think of housing them in anything but a hard case! :o

OP, i should have mentioned that there are many guitar shops located in BKK (malls) and I know of 2 that are located in Issan. Not sure of your location, but go with a hard case! You can pick one up here (good quality) for about 1,000-2,000 baht if you know where to shop! :o

Hi,

Thanks for replying. I've played guitar for years, and usually would not consider a gig bag, but I take care of my stuff, and rarely does anyone else handle it for me. So whether it's a gig bag or a HSC, isn't so much of an issue. The 'slop factor' of a gig bag and the fact I'm probably going to not find one close to Ko Samui is the issue.

I know someone in BKK that can make a HSC, but I'd have to do it by sending them measurements, as I don't intend a trip there anytime soon but if things are just a tiny bit off then it won't fit. There's more of a slop factor in a gig bag. Plus there's a lot of people who work with leather in LOS, so I thought that would be the way to go.

So I'm asking if anyone has any personal with someone that can do the work. I know I can get one on eBay, but I prefer to do it here.

Thanks,

If you have played for a long time you should now know a gig bag is the way to go, unless you are traveling with your own road crew carrying your guitar equipment.

Yep gig bags are what most pros use nowadays, unless they're on world tours in which cases its air flight cases handled by roadies.

You should take a photo of what you want and approach a local leather shop in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, etc. Chances are they can make one.

Maybe "pros" in Thailand. I still feel that nothing protects your axe like a hard case especially if you have paid a significant amount of money for it. Most of the gig bags I have seen here and back home are after market crap. I do have a soft case (gig bag) for my "baby Taylor", but the case is made and molded for that specific guitar, so no swishing around in the bag.
