There used to be an occasional problem with water injection to make them weight more (that could be contaminated) but don't believe it is currently a serious problem.

never read eating watermelons is bad for you.1st time i've heard of injecting water to add wieght though

I've heard quite a few times from Thai people that eating too much watermelon ain't good, probably because too much pesticides are being used. No one else who has heard that story ?

I remember reading somewhere that bacteria breeds easier on the pre-cut watermelon, as opposed to the other fruits, you can buy from the carts etc.
