Just took delivery of my new 2008 Toyota Altis 1.6G here in Lopburi this week :o . Love it so far...very tight, quiet, great leather interior, very handsome exterior. 1.6 engine is smooth, quiet and peppy enough. The silver metallic is a great color on this car. My intention is to keep the Altis in perfect condition and to have it for many years (most likely my final car). I added as options upper and lower grille chrome trim, rear deck chrome trim, interior wood panel pieces (console, arm rests), fog lamps and rear backup sensors. The dealership promotion included 1 year insurance, tinted glass, sun shades, chrome exhaust end, car cover, lighted door step plates, and floor mats.

just the old mini !!!

Lover it! used to own a leylang mini with a modified motor in Australia. My first and only car there. Bloody thing cost me a packed in repairs - especially electrical problems. It also decided it would cough and splutter at the first sight of rain. Stupid distributor right near the front grill was to blame. Ended up having to put a rubber glove over it to keep out the water. Still it was a lot of fun, and maxed out at 160km/h. How does yours go in the rain? The classic mini costs a bomb here.

Reminds me of the '63 Jaguar E-Type I had years ago. Good old Lucas electronics, guaranteed to fail whenever you are most in need! Endless electrical system problems which finally broke the bank, so I managed to dump it and buy a Buick. Jags are like mistresses: when they behave they are the BEST; when they don't they make your life miserable! :o

1975 AMC Pacer....

You have this car in Thailand??!! (re: the thread's title).

Cool car, design ahead of its time in 1975 - haven't seen one in years. Unfortunately they (along with most AMC vehicles) had a major rust-out problem in the U.S. and most Pacers retired to the big junk yard in the sky in less than ten years.

I was in Ratchada yesterday having my car serviced, walked along to a tent while I was waiting....

They had a AMC Pacer for sale, an number of Jags, a Austin Cambridge of the 50's, and 9 Mini's, 1x green mini van, 1x red mini pickup, 1x cooper S the rest were Austin Mini or Leyland Mini's, all of the 60' and 70's.......... Also a 8 serise BMW, that is the 3rd one I have seen here

Thanks Ignis, that sounds like my kind of place! For viewing only, because my big money days are long gone :o . Sounds like there are at least two Pacers here in Thailand, a big surprise to me. Perhaps an AMC exec retired here and had the funds to bring his favorite cars. I have seen two Jags here in Lopburi, both XJ6s, which I lust over. Haven't seen an XJS here yet but there is probably some in BKK. I went to Coventry, England in 1985 to get a new XJS under their European delivery program (nobody knew Jaguar Cars, Ltd. had such a program). Drove to see Stonehenge (a bit of a letdown) then had it shipped back to the USA. Beautiful black/grey - the smoothest car I've ever driven, the V12 being like an electric motor - soundless, smooth, powerful, awesome low end torque. My next favorite car I owned (in 1990) would be my 1979 Rolls Silver Wraith. Was like driving around in your living room with a dash like a cabin cruiser's and all it's wood. Spectacular external appearance and classic grille - I will never forget it! icon12.gif

i drive a Mitusbishi Triton,

3.2gls (4m41) diesel, completly modified, but stockish appearance!!!!!!

What kind of modifications you've done on your car?

ECU? Turbo? Brakes? Suspension?

Grant, he's posted quite a bit about it here in other threads. Did you decide on doing the supercharger yet or not?

Arrived Friday wifes new car Hond a Jazz ordered a month ago but still the dealer was unable to source an English manual for me, they then forgot to put on the parking sensors, the locking wheel nuts , but did manage the side protecting strips, sadly they put them on at completely the wrong height and now its gone back for them to r e do all this stuff. When questioned r e the height of the strips they said " up to customer", I pointed out unless they ask the customer what height they want them how can they know even though their yard was full of Jazz's with them at the right height.

Impresssions so far are it seems quite a hard ride and lacks the wests more luxurious accessories ie UK ,model gets cruise control ,6 airbags etc etc this is the SV model as well. No discount and a whole 5 litres of fuel whooooope do!!

I've read on several other forums Honda service is not that great here in Thailand, so your experience does not surprise me. Stupid mistake on the strips problem, exasperating to you for sure.

I hope your wife is happy with her new Jazz though. That is the main thing.

So far so good with my first Toyota dealership experience. Saleslady promised me an English manual in about 10 days and I hadn't even asked for one yet. We'll see how their service is.

And don't forget to ask the dealer when you take it for your 10,000kms service why the same car(possibly made in Thailand?) in the UK can go 20,000kms :o

Almost payd for that but I've got K20A (225HP) and all technical staff from Japanese TypeR - will swap on the next week

Cool, I hope it works out well. What will that cost in total? I imagine you are also changing the gearbox and all the electrics including the ecu. Post some phots when its done ok? Thanks..

2001 Honda Accord

I didn't realize that the car had no heater when i bought it. When it rains here in Bangkok, the windows fog up. Just wondering if anyone else has had the

same issue with other Accords. Also if anyone knows about how much it would cost to have heat installed? Thanks :o

No is't not the missing heater. Your air condition selector is maybe not in the right position or it's leaking cold air true to the vents at the windscreen. Make sure no cold air streaming at the windscreen and close the termostate a little bit so the air compressor cut off more regulary and the problem should be solved.

I had this TA for over five years in Thailand (Original engine). But i lost it when i separated from my ex gf. I was stupid enought to register in her name when i bought it. Anyway you can find always something special if you have time to wait and look arround. i never saw a peacer, but i saw chevy monza, plenty of olds cutlasses and many other US cars overhere. They still availabile, just the prices are much higher than in the US.

Cool, I hope it works out well.

I know few guys who have that swap already - no problem at all.

But performance of 225HP is fantastic and this engine can be modified to almost 300HP without turbo.

What will that cost in total? I imagine you are also changing the gearbox and all the electrics including the ecu.

About 300k - engine, gearbox, ECU, steering (because TypeR have hydraulic system), brakes BREMBO, suspension, radiator, pedals etc

Minus cost of my engine etc because I'll sell it.

For 750k I can swap my car to TypeR but I don't care about interior and exterior.

Post some phots when its done ok? Thanks..

OK

Yes I had already spotted this however I rememebr form old motorbikes years ago dusty conditions shortened many service items and I find BKK quite dusty. That said they do the labour for free for 20000km you just pay for parts no doubt extortionatley. I cured the bone jarring ride................ tyre pressures 55psi when i checked them bloody ridiuclous took them down to the correct 30 rear 32 front bolloclked the garage again!!

I always check everything they do and will do it myslef afater the warranties expired its not difficult at all.

bmw e90 330i (2006)

ford ranger xlt 3.0tdci (2007)

honda crv 2.4 modulo (2007)

but thinking to sell the e90 and the crv for a cheaper volvo xc90

what do you think?

I like the Volvo but motoring reports in the UK say that the Subaru Legacy is a better car/estate, faster, better handling and overall a better pacage.... Noticed a few here, and they cost about the same as the xc90

Thought it might be a good idea to have this thread so that if we have a problem with our cars we can find owners with similar models who might be able to give advice on locating parts or getting repairs done for the right price. :o

As for me ....... Nissan Sunny B14

Toyota Vigo 4X4 3.0 diesel...

Never a problem, cheap and easy to operate, goes everywhere!

And, on top, the best service ever!

Just realised a dream and bought me an AUDI A6 3.0 TDI quattro.

The dealer made me a huge discount and the car, which had 6'000 km, I couldn't resist.

This car is amazing. So far (1 week) I managed an average of 8 l/ 100 km (or about 12.5 km / liter). Mainly driving in the city. Next week I will take if to Trat and wonder what average mileage I will get. Anyone interested in this info?

And then, I will try to do some tuning. There is a German car tuner specialising in AUDI. His name is ABT and they have a software update for this engine, bringing it from 220 HP to 270 HP. I don't know what that will do to the torque (now 450 Nm), but based on previous experience with ABT, I expect higher torque at the same revs and even better mileage.

I tune Audi for a living (4yrs )...contact me if interested! 269hp / 525nm. I use O.CT Tuning.

I have dynoed a few of my clients cars with much success. For example the new TT MK II, I was able to achieve some 38hp increased and as well as 70nm!
