Hi me and my wife are going to thailnd January we are going to do a visa for her son who's 9 she has a 2 yr set visa (this has just passed we were late in applying and we completed the FLR M form which is an extension this is for 2 year's i understand we can now apply for the ILR but 750 at the moment is a lot as we are saving for the holiday itself so she won't have ILR when we go to Thailand but she will of been here more than the 2 years)

Anyway what visa will we go for when we apply for her son?

a 2 year set visa?

what will it cost?

When we apply for ILR will it cost me double?

Is the guide for doing a visa for your partner the same as for her child?

Just trying to get as much info as i can beofre i start getting everything ready

The son needs to apply for a settlement visa which, if issued, will be valid until the same date as your wife's. When your wife applies for indefinite leave, she may then include the son on her application at no extra cost.

The requirements for a settlement visa for the child are pretty much the same as for a spouse, with the exception that your wife will have to demonstrate that she has retained sole responsibility for the child. This is not simply a question of having custody, but one of whether she continues to provide the direction and control in the child's life, albeit from afar.

Hi thanks Scouse,

I think my wife has a letter of some kind saying she is soley responsable or looking after him of something like that. I will check what it is. She has lots of phone calls to her Mum and son she works and sends around 150 pounds a month to her mum.

I have just printed of the VAF4 form is this correct?

I will complete as much as i can and ask if i get stuck. Do we need 6 months banks statements each, deeds to house letters etc. Also may sound daft but will my wife or me be the sponser i guess me but just thought i would ask.

thanks

You may sponsor her son include all money transfers/contact as Scouse has said you must prove you still have an input in the childs life.

I have just printed of the VAF4 form is this correct? Yes

You require exactly the same as when you did the settlement application.
