Well, I think you probably could call it "Thai BBQ". "mu" means pork and "kata" is the name of the pan everything is cooked on, have you noticed the piece of pork placed on the top of the pan?

There's a quite a few places in Bangkok that have "mukata" (there's also a couple opposite the ladybars heading towards Ban Tai, coming from Thong Sala), eat all you can for 89bt, if there's any food left over (not eaten) you must pay an extra 20bt! (that's where a doggy bag comes in handy!).

I think "mukata" originates from Korea.

5tash and KaWin, thank you for your replay. In German they call it "Mongolentopf" and in the restaurant where I go when I want to eat the "Mukataa" they call it "Hot Pan BBQ" (as you can see on the picture), wich is defenetly not the right name I guess. Korean BBQ, I did hear already. It is now little more expensive it cost 110 Baht right now. Still o.k. I think for what you get. It is very good and a lot of fun to eat with some friends. For sure the best one on Ko Phangan. The one in Thongsala near pier is good to. But I prefere to drive to Ban Kai for it ;-)

This one (pic) is in Ban Kai right hand when driving towards Hadrin, very nice place and well known by the locals.
