From what I have read Peruvian prisons are in some ways even worse than Thai prisons. Assuming the guy gets convicted, he doesn't really have a future. I feel kind of sorry for his Dad; I think he has known all along the guy is a bad seed.

Video images of Joran van der Sloot after he was arrested in Chile (almost bald headed):

http://peru21.pe/noticia/489285/van-der-sl...o-santiago......loading very slowly now, possibly due to heavy traffic

Translated from Spanish into English, from: http://peru21.pe/noticia/489285/van-der-sl...turado-santiago

"Van der Sloot was captured in Chile

The Dutch was intensely looked for in the above mentioned country, to where he escaped after the murder of the young woman Stephany Flores in Lima, Peru.

The Police of Chile stopped Dutch Joran Van Der Sloot (23) in Santiago, looked for in Peru for being the principal suspect of the murder of the daughter of the well-known broker of cars and businessman Ricardo Flores, ‘ Riflo ‘, and which crime happened last May 30th.

The foreigner escaped from Lima, Peru towards the southern country last May 31, the same day in which the body of Stephany Flores Ramírez, of 21 years, was found in the room of the hotel of Miraflores where the Dutch was staying.

As we informed the On Line edition of The Mercury already, the Chilean agents were concentrating on the sector of Putre (North Chile - LP), the plateau and the desert, after which it was confirmed that Van der Sloot had entered into Chile across the frontier of Chacalluta.

“ The person was located on the route 68 (Santiago - Valparaiso) in a rented vehicle (likely being the taxi - LP) and he was being moved to the Police Headquarters, foreigners' department ”, Douglas Rodriguez, boss of the Police of investigations of Arica, said to Reuters. He added that now the decision of his extradition move to Peru is in the hands of the Chilean Government.

In the morning, the Sub Prefect, Nelson Oyarzún, boss of the Provincial Prefecture of Arica, quoted for emol.com, said that the person in question could not remain in custody, because the order of apprehension still did not come to the country.

His Father died, February 11th, 2010 during a game of tennis, on Aruba, the island where Natalee Holloway disappeared.

The bizarre thing in this whole case is that the Peruvian girl died exactly the same day, May 30th, Natalee was seen last, 5 years earlier.

with video:

From: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/TheLaw/joran-van...ory?id=10813490

Excerpts:

"Flores (21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez - LP), who was reportedly an out lesbian struggling with her sexuality, was found beaten and stabbed to death in a room at the Miraflores Hotel Tac in Lima booked in van der Sloot's name, police said."

and

"Though living openly as a lesbian, Flores struggled to balance her sexuality with her parents' intense disapproval, her ex-girlfriend Stephanie Jimenez told "Good Morning America" today.

Jimenez said that Flores had recently been hitting the casinos especially hard, spending thousands of dollars at a time. She described Flores as a good girl whose intense insecurity shaped much of her behavior. "

"Jimenez, now living in Miami, said that Flores would often flirt with men while gambling at the casino with her father, Peruvian businessman and racecar driver Ricardo Flores, even though she was out to the gay community."

and:

"Jimenez said it wasn't unusual for either Flores or her father to disappear for a few days at a time, but she's shocked her friend would go to a hotel with van der Sloot.

"She wouldn't do that, she wouldn't do that just for fun," Jimenez said. "She was afraid of something like this happening."

Chile nabs Dutch man linked to Aruba mystery

Chile (Reuters) - Chilean police on Thursday detained a Dutch man who was arrested twice over the disappearance of a U.S. student in Aruba in 2005 and is a prime suspect in a new murder probe in neighboring Peru.

Joran Van der Sloot was stopped by police in central Chile while he was traveling south from the border with Peru.

"He was found in a rented vehicle on highway 68 and is now being taken to police headquarters," said Douglas Rodriguez, head of investigation police in the northern city of Arica.

He was blamed for murder before and found not guilty in court.

At the moment he is just a suspect :) .

Incorrect.

He was never in court since there was no "court-case"; Natalee Holloway's body was never found.

Sorry to say so but those are the facts.

However, everybody is waiting for him to finally answer to the questions what happened that night on Aruba, now 5 years ago.

But he didn't go to court for that. Technically, he's not guilty for Natalee's disappearance but that he knows more is almost as sure as h_ll.

Tonight, Peter R. de Vries, the Crime Reporter who made the secretive "candid camera" operations in The Netherlands, hopes he will now finally also speak about the "missing links" in Natalee's disappearance.

We will have to wait for the final answers of the Police Investigations and interrogations of Joran about the murder of the Peruvian girl; maybe his conscience will speak...if he has any. :D

It never made its way to court, even with him confessing on video taping to watching her die and disposing of the body. And the fact his dad was rich and a judge had nothing to do with that. :)

You defend him as if he is a real stand-up guy. For any who have doubts, this chilling translation should speak volumes:

These are the words of a cruel, calculating, cold-blooded, soulless human being. His latest victim was found with a bludgeoned face and a broken neck, face down in his bed in his hotel room. Police sources indicate a substantial amount of evidence linking him to the crime scene, and therefore the crime.

What are the basic elements of proof of criminal conduct? Means, Motive, Opportunity. Means and Opportunity are simple to prove in this guy's case. That leaves only Motive. I would suggest that trial will prove that his motive lies somewhere in the bounds of deviant anti-social behavior caused by an inability to deal with rejection by women, resulting in use of drugs and physical force to prove to himself and others his ability to dominate them. Classic case of sociopathic narcissism.

This is true. However a bludgeoned body found in the hotel room registered in his name doesn't look good. the fact that he fled the country and didn't turn himself in to be questioned also demonstrates a conscientiousness of guilt.

As far as the Aruba case goes after reading about it again I don't think he would have ever been convicted of murder. He supposedly watched her die and disposed of the body. That is grounds for some sort of charge if true but it isn't murder. I am no lawyer however so can't say for sure.

As by now you all know:

Joran van der Sloot, the suspect in a young woman's slaying this week in Peru and previously considered a suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba, was captured Thursday in Chile, authorities said.

So don't believe every rumor you hear in Thailand.

There are a lot of them.

Declaring him PNG & deporting him would suit me.

Locking him up in a Thai prison would suit me.

OK, locking you up in a Thai prison would suit me very much, thank you.

Why?

Because I would like that.

Stupid?

Yes, as stupid as your remark.

As you can read, this man was suspected of a killing, and set free because there was no proof at all that he was indeed guilty of killing the girl.

He is NOT convicted of any crime, why lock him up in a Thai prison?

Just because Peter de Vries THINKS he did kill the girl?

Just because public opinion in the US is enough to condemn someone?

Just because this guy flees to Thailand because wants to escape that stupid <deleted> de Vries?

He is in Thailand, which only shows the Dutch authorities had no grounds to withdraw his passport.

Why in Thailand?

Why not?

Like all his remarks, statements and fantasies, Joran only shows he is a compulsive liar.

Stupid?

Oh yes, very much.

But guilty without judging?

NO!

Is he an example of the kind of tourists I am happy with?

No!

But, his father is a judge, quite rich, probably rather influential.

You see?

His father recently died and Joran was arrested today or yesterday in Lima for another killing of a young woman so he will get what Karma has to offer to killers of young women. RIP Ladies.

I hadn't realized his Dad had already died at age 57 of a heart attack. Just a guess, but it must have been very stressful to have a son like that, and also it was clear his Dad was involved in trying to cover up for Joran. Wrong, but understandable.

Also, it's not going to help Joran that the new murder victim comes from a big shot Peruvian family.

Perhaps we can read next week he is in Thai custody for exploiting young

Thai girls...

If they start arresting men in Pattaya for exploiting " young Thai girls " they'd better rent a convention centre to hold 'em all.

Joran van der Sloot charged in $ 250,000 Extortion Case over Location of Natalee Holloway's Body

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A Dutch man suspected in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba was charged Thursday in Alabama with trying to extort $250,000 in return for disclosing the location of her body.

A criminal complaint by the U.S. Attorney in federal court in Birmingham also accused van der Sloot in May 2010 of promising to describe the circumstances of Holloway's death in return for the money. According to a sworn statement, van der Sloot got a partial payment of $15,000 wired to a Netherlands bank soon after.

He has long been a suspect in Aruba in the disappearance of Holloway, an 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Ala., who was on a graduation trip to Aruba with other seniors when she turned up missing as they flew home. Her mother still lives in Alabama.

The name of the person paying the money was not given. A call to U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance was not immediately returned. She said at a news conference that her office would not be releasing any more details.

Van der Sloot was arrested Thursday in Chile as a suspect in the death of a 21-year-old Stephany Flores of Peru. Her neck was broken Sunday, five years to the day after Holloway disappeared, and her body found by a maid Tuesday in a Lima hotel room registered to van der Sloot. Police believe he met the University of Lima business student for the first time the previous night at a nearby casino.

The two-count complaint in Alabama also charged van der Sloot with wire fraud stemming from the $15,000.
