House Ownership On Leased Land

Featured Replies

Can anyone point me in the direction of current information on owning the house on leased land. Did the construction permit need to be in my name? etc...

Thanks!

There was a relatively recent (< 12 months) prior thread on this topic, so try a thread topic search.

That thread was about owning the house upon land owned by another (e.g. Thai wife) and did not specify (or discuss) leased land. From memory the construction permit DID need to be in the name of the registered owner of the house. The other related issue was that it was very difficult/impossible to separate the house and land if they were bought at the same time (ie. better to buy the land then apply for the construction permit then build the house if you plan to have separate owners for house and land)

Another good source on legal issues like this is the web site www.samuiforsale.com

I am also interested and tried to thread search but still have not found the referenced thread. If anyone finds it or gets more info please post here or PM me.

Thanks
