I know, I know - "Use the search box". I have but as I said in the topic I must be retarded. A very simple question: Can I stay in Thailand for 2 years and do a visa run each month?

If not, do you know of any language school in Koh Samui that can give you a ED visa?

Thanks Guys and Girls and I hope you enjoy the sun, I had my first f*cking snow today. And by the time I finish my breakfast, the sun will probably had gone down again.

NO!

EDIT Up until a couple of years ago you could, now you are limited to 90 days in six months if using visa exemptions.

If you don't want to do the school thing tourist visa are easy to get from consulates in the area each entry being good for 60 days plus a 30 day extension from immigration for 1900 Baht.

There are other options, let us know your location and nationality for better detail.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

If you are in the UK you could probably get a multi entry Non-Imm-O visa based on visiting family/friends from the Thai consulate in Hull.

This would give you up to 15 months in Thailand with a visa run every 90 days.

Crazy people used to do this until October 2006 I believe was the date.

At the moment and without a non immigrant visa from your home country, the best is a double entry tourist visa which you would get about every 180 (more like 170) days. You would then get 60+30 then go outside and get another 60+30. Then repeat to get another double entry tourist visa for another 60+30 then 60+30. IN theory you could do this indefinitely but is was known last year that consulates were stamping the passport with ä rd pen indicating that you could not go back immediately for another tourist visa.

The best way is the non immigrant visa which will give 15 months, coupled with some tourist visas if you don't want to go back and get another non immigrant visa from your home country.

Sh*t, holy cr*p.. I thought you would b*tch and moan about my question! And then b*tch a little bit more before you decided to start b*tching in some other thread. You actually answered. Well thank you. I guess not all expats in Thailand are drunken, anti-social, people-hating psychos :o.

Ok, since I´m retarded (retarded, not retired), I will break down what you said and hope that you will correct me if I´m wrong.. (Btw, someone asked and I´m Danish and 25 years old.)

1. I cant do a visa run every month.

2. I can go to Thailand and go to Laos and get double entry visa. Then I can stay 60 days. After that I can pay immigration to get an other 30 days. After everything, all the same again. Then I would have to go home for some time (how long?).

3. Is it possible to "live" in Thailand this way if I go home to my country 3 months every year?

4. No long term language school in Samui? I´ve googled, nothing.

Btw, I just got home, it was black outside except for the wet snow. My fingers are hurting from the cold as do my ears. No one outside, everyone looks unhappy. Havent seen the sun for a couple of days now.

Oi! I resemble that remark!

I have visited the Denmarkish Thai Consul website and have concluded that although they very nearly speak English, they have severe dyslexia:

3. Non-Immigrant Visum:

At udføre officielle opgaver.

Andre aktiviteter, så som familiebesøg, bosættelse som pensionist, etc.

So it looks like the most you can get is 90 days but the good news is that you can go and get your foreskin trained. You canget multi-entry (max 3 entries) and therefore presumably enter on day 89 and get a final 60 days bringing it to around 150 days total.

The question is, can you take the ferry over to Hull, get a one year non-immigrant issued there and then fly to LOS from London Heathrow? (90 day visa runs after that if you succeed).

As stated already you cannot do a visa run every month.

Suggest you contact the Thai embassy/consulate and see what their requirements are for a 2 or 3 entry tourist visa are. If they will issue a 3 entry visa that would give you almost 9 months without getting a new visa. If they give 3 entry the visa would have to have 6 month use before date to get 9 months so ask about that. After using all the entries you could go to Vientiane Laos and get a new 2 entry visa.

Each entry of a tourist visawill give you 60 days that can be extended for 30 days at immigration. After that you can do a border run and re-enter getting another 60 days using your next entry.

Yep. You can stay in Thailand a long time if you have proper Visas. There is no limit.

As you said there is no language school in Samui.

As someone said , if you can get over to Hull in UK you can get a Multi Entry Non O Visa . This would give you a stay of up to 15 months. Needing a run to the border every 90 days. Reason for visiting friends and family.

Or 2 or 3 entry Tourist Visas from Denmark.

Hull website.

Have you visited the Samui forum yet? Some of the people on there are quite friendly and may give you some help.

I can only get a 2-entry in my country. So that means I can stay 60 + 30 and then 60 + 30 again. BUT what happens after that? Can I go to Laos and apply for a new 2entry visa? Or do I have to back home for some time? If so, how long time do I have to stay home?

Thanks for all the replys guys.

You don't have to go home you can go to Vientiane Laos or Kota Bharu Malaysia and get another 2 entry tourist visa.

Check with Hull about the visa question. It seems to me that getting a tourist visa would be easier though.

Is that true? So, I can go get a new 2 entry tourist visa as many times as I want? Then why do people bother som much with the visa question if all you have to do is to go to Laos or KL and get a new 2 entry visa when you need it?

BTW: thanks to all the other answers too. I will check the Samui forum too.

A lot of people get the wrong information about the 90 day rule for visa exempt entries. And/Or get it confused with visa entries.

By the way its Kota Bharu not KL.

It is a no brainer really. Go to Hull, pay £110 plus about £25 for a taxi from the city centre to wait and bring you back (or you will be walking !).

You do 4 visa runs in 15 months and that is all.

From Denmark the OP would have to go to a proper country with an airline or use SAS.

OK a quick check says that there are no cheap flights to Hull from Copenhagen so fly to Mancheser if you can and just get the train across. Easy, you can plan online, I've looked into this. Then fly Emirates or Etihad to Bangkok. IN theory you can do it all in one day and catch the evening flight to Bangkok.

Sure it adds costs to the front end but it does eliminate costs throughout the 15 months. NO need to fanny around collecting tourist visas either.

Thanks guys for helping out:). Seems like a greta idéa.

It also seems like I have asked enough questions now but I have one last. Will I be able to do the Hull thing one more time after the end of the 15 months? And will the hull office accept non-english seekers?

Posted

Unless there is a change of policy before the 15 months comes around the answer is yes.

I don't think your english will be bad enough not to be able to apply for a visa. You seem to do good job at written english.

Posted
Hull do a postal service, just send your passport special delivery, put special delivery return inside. Job done

Hull will only return the passport to an address in the UK.

Posted

Yes, I dont think my english would be a problem. I meant that I wasnt from uk but Danish.

But why are there so many threads about 2 entry visas and visa runs etc if all you have to do is to go to hull and you can practically live in Thailand for years and years?

Posted
Because most people do not live anywhere near Hull.

Hehe, Touche!

But So I can live in Thailand for like 3 years if I´m only prepared to go to Hull once every 15 months?
