The People's Alliance for Democracy has been rallying continuously since May 25, 2008 for 2 main objectives;

1. To prevent the rewriting of the 2007 Constitution by the proxy government of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra who are trying to amend the charter to whitewash the crimes committed by Thaksin and his cronies and to destroy the country’s judiciary system. The PAD also strives to prevent the proxy government from abolishing the Privy Council, a move which the PAD considers to be a direct violation of His Majesty the King’s authority.

The current Thai Parliament is also considered to be under Thaksin’s complete control. It has committed various wrongdoings and violated election laws, yet continues to claim it represents the people of Thailand. But in truth, the proxy Parliament is a sale to any highest bidding politician. The Constitution court’s imminent deliberation of a various party dissolution cases against several of the government coalition partners is proof enough of the fact that Thakin’s proxy government is not a truly ‘constitutional’ government of Thailand.

2. To drive out the killer government that has shamelessly acted as a nominee for fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra. The government is clearly behind the ruthless killings of Thai citizens, manipulated state media, supports the destruction of the Thai judiciary system, exploits the country’s national budget, condones lese majeste actions, lacks any ethical standing and therefore is deemed to be an illegitimate government which is not fit to administer the Kingdom.

For the above reasons the People's Alliance for Democracy has been rallying peacefully and without arms, a right which is sanctioned by the 2007 Constitution Article 63. Article 70 stipulates that a Thai citizen has the responsibilities to protect the 3 pillars of the country; the nation, religion and the King and the nation’s constitutional monarchy.

However, during the course of the rally the lives and safety of supporters of the People's Alliance for Democracy have been in constant jeopardy. The government is also clearly involved in masterminding various violent attacks against the PAD. It has also turned a blind eye when the PAD was attacked with weapons of war on more than 10 occasions. The ruthless attacks have resulted in countless injuries and 4 deaths. Several attacks were also targeted at the ASTV headquarters in an attempt to prevent that station from broadcasting live the PAD rally. The government has yet to take any responsibility for the underhanded sabotage attempts.

Three Senate committees, tasked with investigating the violence and bloodshed of the October 7th incident, have found that the PM Somchai Wongsawat and his Cabinet ministers are to be held responsible for the injuries and deaths of the protesters. Their findings coincide with that of the National Human Rights Commission. Premier Somchai must take responsibility for the tragedy by resigning immediately and without any condition.

The People's Alliance for Democracy has called for a final mass rally to stop the traitorous government and proxy Parliament on November 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. The final rally is well into its 50th hour and the supporters of the PAD have been pressuring the traitorous government to step down with peaceful means. Armed with only the plastic hand clappers, the PAD protesters have marched to various key locations including Parliament, Finance ministry, the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the government’s temporary seat at Don Muang Airport. However, to no avail, the proxy government has failed to show any sign of remorse or any intention to step down as demanded by the PAD. In addition, it continues to cling on to power and is determined to amend the charter for the interests of its puppet master and his associates.

The People's Alliance for Democracy is left with no choice but to step up its peaceful rally by blocking off access to the Suvarnabhumi Airport. This is considered to be an ultimatum for Somchai Wongsawat and the Cabinet to resign immediately and without any condition.

The people's alliance apologizes for any inconvenience the closure of the Suvarnabhumi Airport may cause to the public and international visitors to the Kingdom of Thailand. But the PAD believes the measure is crucial to bring an end to the traitorous-killer government.

The PAD is calling for the public from all walks of life to join the PAD movement and call for the current administration to resign immediately to protect Thailand from more harm and to restore morals to the Thai society without any further delay.

Very telling that ONCE AGAIN a very important and pertinent to the current situation statement, has not been commented upon by any of the mudslingers on this forum. Not for the first time during this long and difficult transition to something resembling a true democracy here in Thailand , I find the overall reaction to something perhaps outside the'comfort zone' of certain of the expats here to be much more, um, interesting, than the events themselves. Much of it will be seen, by its foreign audience, rightly or wrongly, as incendiary political propoganda and little more- unsubstantiated allegations, opinions, and vitriol. Read it carefully- imagining that you knew absolutely nothing about what has precipitated the takeover of the airport- or Thai politics- how much of it would appeal to your reason?

The part about the findings of the senate committees investigating Oct 7 plays well- but anyone who saw last night's Nation TV footage of the PAD guards firing guns would wonder just how many lies and omissions this statement includes ('armed with nothing but handclappers').

The government that works for Thaksin instead of the country is guilty of treason, it doesn't matter if it was elected or not - it's not fit to govern. Exactly the same argument I typed a million times in Thaksin days - you can't hold elections to whitewash your personal run-ins with the criminal law.

Conversely - should the govt decide to serve the country instead of Thaksin, PAD will have no reasons to protest any further. In fact that was a general idea when Samak was forced out - new start, negotiations with PAD, the country moves forward.

Didn't happen, pro-Thaksin agenda has been pushed forward while all other government matters are put on backburner.

The military coup leaders basically pushed thru the 'new' constitution when most of Thailand was under curfew and was not allowed to convene in any great numbers to discus said new amendments which basically protect the coup leaders if at a later date they are found to have contravened a law, basically removing any post humous actions upon them.

The current Thai Parliament is also considered to be under Thaksin’s complete control. The people's alliance apologizes for any inconvenience the closure of the Suvarnabhumi Airport may cause to the public and international visitors to the Kingdom of Thailand. But the PAD believes the measure is crucial to bring an end to the traitorous-killer government.

The government that works for Thaksin instead of the country is guilty of treason, it doesn't matter if it was elected or not - it's not fit to govern. Exactly the same argument I typed a million times in Thaksin days - you can't hold elections to whitewash your personal run-ins with the criminal law.

Conversely - should the govt decide to serve the country instead of Thaksin, PAD will have no reasons to protest any further. In fact that was a general idea when Samak was forced out - new start, negotiations with PAD, the country moves forward.

Didn't happen, pro-Thaksin agenda has been pushed forward while all other government matters are put on backburner.

What all you pro-PAD people fail to understand is that PAD are not protesting. They haven't been from the start. Protesting does not interfere with a government's ability to govern or a country's right to function normally.

This is rioting and anarchy, not protesting. I'd like to see the police start dragging out protestors one by one and arresting them. If they start doing that it shouldn't take long for the majority of them to scurry off in fear. The only reason they're brave is because the government has been playing mr niceguy too long.

The Ultimatum for the Prime Minister to Resign Immediately and Without Condition

The People's Alliance for Democracy (killer mob) has been rallying continuously since May 25, 2008 for 2 main objectives;

1. To prevent the rewriting of the 2007 Constitution (that was written by an illegal coup) by the proxy government of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra who are trying to amend the charter (that white washed the crimes committed by the illegal coup) to whitewash the crimes committed by Thaksin and his cronies and to destroy the country's judiciary system. The PAD also strives to prevent the proxy government from abolishing the Privy Council, a move which the PAD considers to be a direct violation of His Majesty the King's authority.

The current Thai Parliament is also considered (by the mobs opinion) to be under Thaksin's complete control. It has committed various wrongdoings and violated election laws (that are being looked into according to legal Thai law and not a vigilante mob) , yet continues to claim it represents the people of Thailand. But in truth, the proxy Parliament is a sale to any highest bidding politician( another propaganda opinion by the mob). The Constitution court's imminent deliberation of a various party dissolution cases against several of the government coalition partners is proof enough of the fact that Thakin's proxy government is not a truly 'constitutional' government of Thailand (If they have come to this conclusion they should be desolved by the court and not by a vigilante mob that has no legal jurisdiction).

2. To drive out the killer government( the killing was caused by faulty tear gas canisters from China used against an unruly mob assaulting police) (and the killings by PAD are OK) that has shamelessly acted as a nominee for fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra. The government is clearly behind the ruthless killings of Thai citizens, manipulated state media (ASTV has not manipulated any propagana?), supports the destruction of the Thai judiciary system, exploits the country's national budget, condones lese majeste actions (Are you kidding?), lacks any ethical standing and therefore is deemed to be an illegitimate government (by a minority mob which the mob of armed gunmen have decided) think which is not fit to administer the Kingdom.

For the above reasons the People's Alliance for Democracy has been rallying peacefully and without arms (except for the gunman shooting off of the PAD truck last night), a right which is sanctioned by the 2007 Constitution Article 63. Article 70 stipulates that a Thai citizen has the responsibilities to protect the 3 pillars of the country; the nation, religion and the King and the nation's constitutional monarchy (and take over government buildings and stop international air traffic).

Attacking the previous PM for corruption and yet glossing over the fact the PAD leader has served time in prison (convicted criminal) , a morally bankrupt individual that could give Thaksin a run for his money in corruption stakes. These very deluded expats also supported a military coup that has illegally rewritten the constitution. I wonder if these very much deluded expats would support such state of affairs back in their own country. Nope, they themselves called it "people revolution" several times.

It's citizen's right to throw out corrupt "governments" that do not serve the country, in fact it's their duty.

You can argue that there's a ballot box for that - but, as I said earlier, this government shouldn't be allowed to stay regardless of election outcome - they do not serve the country.

Four seconds at the ballot box every four years is not all that there's to governing and democracy. Apart from being elected the govt is also sworn to perform its duties, if it commits treason - no electoral results could justify that.

I wonder how long before the military is forced to intervene in the deteriorating situation in Thailand.

It should be clear to most people now that PAD are totally out of control and need to be reined in.

The rule of the mob will not do Thailand any favours in the long run and ironically enough PAD the great champions of democracy are just making the chance of any worthwhile democracy coming to Thailand ever more remote.

The elected government of Thailand should be allowed to serve out its term.

It is up to the people of Thailand to organise themselves and provide a viable alternative to the current administration. That would mean lobbying and canvassing the people and presenting a clear set of policy statements and a programme of reform aimed at cleaning up the endemic corruption that pervades most Thai institutions. Thus at the next elections the representatives could be duly elected and put in place their reform agenda.

I don’t see much evidence of that occurring.

What I do see is PAD by its inherent lawlessness pushing the country every closer back to a military style dictatorship and thereby retarding any reform process or indeed any chance of a more democratic style of government.

Have you read Pantip.com website recently? I presume you can read Thai as you refer to Thaivisa posters as "opinionated farang". One of the highest traffic Thai based web boards and there is very little love for PAD there. You can sit there and believe that PAD has mass support over Bangkok, but very few Thai's i have spoken to support PAD anymore, a lot of people have lost faith in them, and this recent 'Terrorist' style move will diminish their support even further. Lets see if your executive level friends in Bangkok still support them when PAD cripple the countries economy and bring civil war to the streets of Bangkok.
