Wednesday 26th November 2008.

Today i completed my 90 day reporting on my 1-year retirement visa and the requirement was as follows.

1) 1 fully completed TM 47 form

2) My passport

3) Proof of address

The proof of address is new and was not a requirement on my last visit so I photo copied a UBC bill which is in my name and contains the address I live at and the one I’ve registered at immigration.

I was aware immigration was asking for proof of address and purposely held it back but was asked to produce a document containing 'my name' and my given address.

It is now a requirement.

1. I'm due to make my first report in January can I do this by post to Bkk?

2. Is it my or my Landlords responsibility to inform Imm of my current address?

3. If landlord....can I assume he has done it or what steps should I take?

thanks for any help.

Yes you can do by post. Do not worry about the other question.

Reporting by post info. here. But you need a 10 Baht stamp on the return envelope.

Another good reason for getting a Thai driving licence???

I certainly never had any bills in my name when I was living in Thailand. :o

In about a week, I will be going for my 1st retirement extension.

I live in a apartment building but do not have a lease or contract. The monthly bill I receive does not include the name of the apartment or address nor do I have any utility bills.

Can someone please let me know what do I need to bring to immigration for proof of address?

It is highly unlikely that you will need it.

If you want to make sure, ask your landlord for a copy of the house registration book.

Thanks. I thought I needed to have some proof of where I lived. All I have and carry is the landlord's business card.

Did my 90 day report at Soi Suan Phlu, Bangkok on Tuesday. No proof of address requested.

Did mine on Wednesday just the same as above. No problems and had 2 university students there and was the quickest time ever. Only 5 minutes.

That must be a very recent change or local. I got both my licences (bike and car) in October and both have my address on them. When applying they wanted proof of address.

In your case I would print out a location map from www.maps.google.com and mark an X where my apartment is. Bring the map along but give it only if asked for proof of your address. It would then be up to an immigration officer if he wants to go to that address and verify if you live there.

The latest version of a Thai driving licence i.e credit card typ, does indeed have your address on it albit in Thai. I understand that when these were first issued the address was omitted, it has now been included.

in addtion in response to OP many people do not have any Thai documents in their name, what they do have though is some type of agreement from your landlord in which case a letter of proof from your landlord would suffice. I made my 90 day reporting last week in Jomtien and for the second time was asked for proof of address, in my case I just give a copy of my Thai driving licence old style and this is accepted.

The proof of address was requested at the Pattaya immigration office in Jomtien Soi 5

I have two items/bills in my name which contain both my name and address, one is UBC and the other is TT&T which i use for the internet.

Make no mistake proof of address will be asked for at Pattaya immigration.

And we used to get that proof of address from Immigration.

A touch of Catch 22 here. :D

The rental agreement for your house/apartment should suffice.

Well I do not see how that would help as the document would not bear the name of the person renting (non thai at least)
