Well, my fear became true. After 11 months having he Xbox, it died a 3 rings of death ( i always had a distrust of their build quality ).

Anyone play PS3 in Thailand ? How are the online games and more importantly, how is the technical reliability ?

thx.

If it has been modded, and can't be returned to MS, I've read others here have brought it to MBK or Pantip and had it successfully repaired.

gee wondering if i'll be in your situation again, back in the US last year I went through 5 xbox 360's in less than 6 months, and if you read the report that i read earlier this year its well known that there is a more than 50% failure rate, I got a new my xbox 360 black one from singapore in august can only hope dont get the red rings again. Sucks to get the rings, to bad microsoft didn't just make the system right the 1st time around oh well I guess they dont care that they will spend more than $3 billion dollars just to fix the systems

Never had a problem with my PS3. Online is a hit and miss sometimes due to the lag we get since we are in Thailand. I'm sure playing on xbox live, you'll get the same lag. I've had a PS3 for over a year and I love it. Buying real games gets expensive though. I'm considering getting an xbox 360 when the new jasper boards hit Thailand. I'll probably get that modded and play some multiplayer games (until I get banned) and single player games on it. Then I'll just buy PS3 exclusives.

My son and daughter play on Xbox live all the time. Connect to players from China to Europe. Lag is rarely a problem. I have a TOT 2Mb Internet connection. The only problem is downloading games and updates takes ages.

I got a new 360 from Nadzproject in July, it has a guarantee (not sure if its 1 year or 3) if it breaks they say I take it back to their shop, pay 1,500 baht for postage and they send it to MS in Hong Kong and they will repair it and send it back. I reckon this would all take at least a month though.

Also there is a shop on the top floor in the mall Ramkamhaeng where I got my modded console fixed back in April, it cost 3,000 baht but then there was a 6 month gurantee after so if it broke again (which it did twice) they would repair it for free.

I am in the US on holiday right now, but returning to Thailand in January. I am thinking of buying an Xbox 360 for my son. Trying to decide whether to buy in the US or in Thailand. Does anyone have an advice on this?

I'd expect that if you buy in the US you get a 110V power adapter, but you need a 220V one for Thailand. Sure there are converters but they get ugly fast at a certain capacity. I'd just buy in Thailand.
