Hello all

I have been in Thailand since October on a single entry Tourist Visa issued at the Thai consulate/embassy in Washington, DC. I am currently in Chiang Mai and have already done the 30 day extension, so my 90 days runs out December 30.

I've looked at alot of the posts about it on here and am thinking I can go to Lao and apply for a multi-entry tourist visa? Has anyone ever heard of someone being denied this?

How many back-to-back tourist visas can you get in a row? I know at the end of the day it all comes down to the immigration officer decides but I just wanted to know if there was a limit that you cannot exceed.

any information would be appreciated

Yes. Vientiene. Double Entry Tourist Visa. 2000 Baht . With extensions this will give you nearly 6 months stay with a border run in the middle.

At the moment there is no limit on how many you can get.

There is nu multi-entry tourist visa, tourist visas have a specified number of entries. The most you will get at Vientanne is 2 entries, regular given. There is no limit to the number of tourist visas you can get.

At present I have a retirement (not married) visa which I do not want to extend as aretirement visa but I need another 3 months in the country after it has expired. I would then leave the country for about a year.

If I were to apply for a tourist visa in Lao could I apply a few days before the retirement visa has expired or would it have to expire before a tourist visa would be granted?

Seems to me to be a dodgy business letting a visa expire before applying for another

If you are on an extension your permit to stay ends as soon as you leave the country. Without a re-entry permit you would need a visa or a visa exempt entry to reenter the country anyway.

They will issue a tourist visa no problem.
