Try "options" "content" tab and then set the language near the bottom. Hope this works. It may choose language based on region settings not an expert though.

May just two different possibilities:

1.: Control Panel ->Regional and !Language Options and set the display of Menu's to English;

and is that didn't work:

2.: use Alt + F10 to start the recovery while boot the computer and set main Language to English only.

Please keep in mind that by 2. you will reinstall everything back to the Factory default and all Data will be gone, also from Data drive (D:)!

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

You may want to download it from the US Mozilla website. Alternatively (for example if you want British spelling), you can check out the version that works for you.

Dave, the problem is XP-Thai related. The version they install is a Thai version of Windows XP. To get everything in English, includes help files, you need to do a clean re-install and choose English as only Language.

I had the same problem just 2 weeks ago with an Aspire one of my customer. But it was more complicated because he also had deleted the Recovery Partition and I had to get an new Image from Acer. After that re-install with English and all was ok.

Cheers.

Darn; I need glasses or some-fink.

Of course with me being the Linux whore I just naturally assumed that's what it had on it. I was considering purchasing one of those netbooks for the lady of the house, but this little tidbit of information cements the fact that she's going to get a Linux machine (that and the fact she loves Frozen Bubble!).

OK Set in Control panels - Regional settings every thing possible to English

Didn't work out

Un-install, Re-install, menu system still in Thai.

Un-installed, went to the FireFox US site with the /en-us at the end. Got that installer file. Installed and now it's in English.

I guess when i went to getfirefox.com the first time it looked up my regional settings and served me up the Thai language install version.

Problem solved!

Thanks guys.

Edit: addendum: there was still a bit of Thai in the Book marks menus, to get rid of it you have to select the check box to delete all personal files (cookies, bookmarks, stored passwords) when doing the un-install. Reinstalled and now it's 100% in English

Same problem here.

Firefox homepage is in Thai. If the wife changes it to English for me it stays that way till I do a scan with CCleaner (Think it's CCL) then reverts back to Thai.

Tried the above suggestions, deleted Firefox and installed the En-Us version but the home page still comes up in Thai.

Similar problem with IE, have Google as my homepage and again everytime I run CCleaner it reverts to Thai, but this is easier to change back as the links are in English unlike Firefox homepage which is all in Thai.

2 Solutions

1. Open CCleaner -> Applications Tab -> Mozilla Firefox section - Un-Check the cookies box.

(every time you're running a CCleaner you're deleting your google English home page prefs which is stored in a Cokkie. You're also probably deleting a ton of cookies you don't need either)

2 Live with your english language pref being reset every time you run a CCleaner scan.

On the home page to the right of the search field click on the bottom link out of the 2 -> google pref page loads.

In the pull down menu select english (if it's all in Thai and you can't read English then select "Pirate" as your language.) The big button up to your right is to save your prefs. -> reloads home page with newly selected language.

If you selected "Pirate" select the same link as you did before now titled "Me likes and dislikes" -> google pref page loads.

Select English in the language selection pull down menu and then save and you're good to go!

Edit: Spelling

I have IE8 and the change homepage language is right there under the search bar in "English" so no problem just a bit of a nuisance.

Dude, use Firefox!

anyhow maybe do a cookie dump once a month.

then a quick re tweaking of your browser settings.

I use Firefox and an extension called cookiesafe. Basically what I did was set it to denie cookies globally and then I white list sites that I want as I visit them. not all that much trouble as you might think. for instance i have white listed sites that I want the computer to remember my log in thaivias.com, facebook.com ect.

also if you come across a site that you don't want a cookie from forever but it needs one to function you can enable cookies on that site on a temporary or per session basis

Tried Cookiesafe lite which seemed to work fine but then I cleared cookies the homepage reverted back to Thai. :o

The Missis is getting a bit fed up with me changing back to English especially after I told her I'd sorted the problem.

If you clear the cookies, you clear the cookies.

I'm suggesting with cookiesafe you block all cookies and then only pick up the ones you want on a page by page basis

Change Thai to English in Firefox

Tools (6th button from left) > Options (bottom button) > Content (3rd from left) > Languages (bottom button) > Pick English from the list as your language.

If its not available click the drop down menu and add it.

How do I pick the homepage ? :o

Change Thai to English in Firefox

Tools (6th button from left) > Options (bottom button) > Content (3rd from left) > Languages (bottom button) > Pick English from the list as your language.

If its not available click the drop down menu and add it.

That is set as English always has been, it's only the FF Homepage that changes to Thai when I clear cookies :D
