Hey All,

my wife filled in the invitation letter (for me to apply Non-Imig. multi-entry visa). It is still bit confusing

It is asking the day of arrival, the day of departure and months and days of stay (actually I could use

the translation of this, if available?). If we think my position, I might enter the Kingdom on 7th of January, but

then leave for work for Lao PDR on 15th and enter again 20th. So is this what I fill in. I know the day of entering is

the day when the 90 days calculation starts again, but does it really matter what is in the invitation if you are in

and out frequently not exceeding 90 days?

Thanks advance

An invitation letter is not required for a non immigrant o visa if that is what you are asking about.

One is requried for a B visa that is done by an employer.

A little more information would help. Your nationality, what visa are you asking for and where.

I have never heard of an invitation letter that the wife of an applicant for a non-O visa has to fill in. The way you describe it, it sounds like some kind of printed form for your wife to complete. Have you got a link to it?

Sorry. I am from Finland. The link to the embassy site and invitation letter are below. They might be confusing matters

over there.

Invitation letter:

The list of requirements are here (select non-imigrant visa O):

This the first time I have seen such a letter required. Just put aproxamate dates in the letter. Your visa will be issued as multiple entry so it does not matter. It might help for her to talk to somebody at the consulate for help. And also confirm it is required.

Just be sure the letter and the dates you put on the application is the same.

Thank you for the links, samii. I know that the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur sometimes asked for an invitation letter from the wife but they have no form. Just a few lines scribbled by the wife on a sheet of paper was all they wanted.

The questions about date of arrival and date of departure are really silly. How can the wife know your date or arrival in Thailand when you don’t even know yet when you will get the visa. So I would say she should write your planned date of arrival as the date of arrival. I see they also want a copy of your flight ticket so base it on the date on the ticket. For departure date she can put one year after the arrival date, since it is a multiple-entry ticket your are applying for. It doesn’t matter at all when you will really enter and leave Thailand; nobody is later going to double-check and compare your actual travel dates with the information on the invitation letter.

For days of stay she can write “90 days for every visit”

Yes and I finally called the embassy and they advised to do the same. Just one year duration starting from the date

I enter (I have ticket for 6.1) and then the date after one year. If I understood from some other messages, this really

does not matter while you can still convert any visa to non-imigrant multi-entry one in the immigration office, if needed.

BUT it would be nice to avoid the immigration office

You cannot get a visa at immigration. You can get a one year extension of stay based upon marriage and if you are going to travel in and out a lot then get a multiple re-rentry permit.
