I've another older PC which does not have a DVD burner and I'm looking to install one. Now I know I could just get an external one but I have no need for portability. However, a cheap option is the best solution.

So, internal or external ? I'm guessing internal is cheaper.

Any makes to consider ? Any makes to avoid ?

Anything else I should consider. Basically for storing photos and burning some downloads.

Go for a Pioneer, internal.

Katana,

Looking at an old post regarding DVD burner question, you did suggest Pioneer to me.

Few month ago, I bought a DVD machine of this brand and happy with it.

I contact Pioneer Thailand who told me they do not have / import the DVD burner but perhaps I will be able to get it from other source (pantip)

When I was in Australia, I find a external pioneer for under $100 Au and it is good.
