This is more idle wondering at this stage, but if you get to live in Thailand on a work permit, you're required to earn a certain amount in a year. If I were to get married, get pregnant and have a child, would I still need to earn that amount or are there other options to explore? I'd really not want to have to work full time at the very least the year I give birth

Very good question. are the rules applyed you women as well as men? most times i feel the locals do not feel the woman is able to or shouldnt be the bread winner. when you find your answer i hope you pm me the details so i might pass it on if others ask.

Yes. And extension can be based on husband so no money requirements for foreign wife. But this will require a legal marriage.
