Maxnet Quality Vs Packet Loss, Traceroutes, Speed

I hope most people on here who are replying to this will hopefully understand what I want to figure out. I am changing my internet services to maxnet after reading various forums and positive reviews on them. Anyway what I want to figure out is, if you are using maxnet

1. As far as doing a traceroute how many hops are still in thailand, ( when I do this with my TOT it comes up with 10 or more hops, with maxnet is there more or less hops to get to international websites

2. Regards to question 1, I heard that tot has to use CAT international gateway to reach international websites. With maxnet is the the same thing.

3. If you are using the indy package can you tell me what is your AVERAGE download speed and & upload speed, yes I know speeds vary due to internet traffic, amount of people on a server and etc

4. How often does maxnet service go down?

5. What kind of speeds are you getting when downloading updates for windows or mac? I use linux so I get to choose a server location that is best available for speeds, most of the time I can get 100kbps or more but this is only when I'm updating my system or getting applications this is while using TOT Goldcyber.

Also around 10 hops for me with MaxNet Premiere 2048/1024

I highly recommend avoiding the Indy package. I've never had it myself, but know many who have and reported lots of problems.

For me, it's pretty reliable, though lately it's been slow or down at night between 7pm and 9pm. During the day it's fast.

5. What kind of speeds are you getting when downloading updates for windows or mac? I use linux so I get to choose a server location that is best available for speeds, most of the time I can get 100kbps or more but this is only when I'm updating my system or getting applications this is while using TOT Goldcyber.

I get up to 350kbps download speeds, which is pretty cool as I pay for the 2048 package!

That's 9 hops within Thailand, with the last one being TT&T's international gateway. On this route it never went through CAT's IIG.

Partly. TT&T owns its own International Internet Gateway, but it also buys bandwidth from CAT.

No idea. Most people needing stable speeds go for the Premium package. I do know latency is much worse on Indy. Premier averages around 70 to 80 msec to Thaivisa (Singapore), and on Indy I have seen it over 1000 msec on peak busy times.

Almost never. As good as you'll ever get in Thailand!

I get a very stable 320 kBps on a 3Mbps Premier package. There's something wrong with Grr's numbers, or he has a faster package then he knows (they did do some free speed upgrades). On a 2 Mbps you can get a maximum transfer speed 256 kBps, but practically, due to error correction etc you'll more likely to see 220 kBps.

Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4688 (DL) 584 (UL)

Rate (Kbps): 3584 (DL) 506 (UL)

which means I'm getting more bandwidth than I'm paying for downstream, and about half of what I'm paying for up. Don't tell MaxNet!

I'm in the same situation... Last June, when they did their free upgrade, I decided to change to Premier 2Mbps. Everything went wrong, and I guess that I made their techs no nervous that they gave me a 4Mbit line, maybe just to get rid of me

Wow! How did you guys manage to get more than what you've paid for?

My case is opposite, I'm on maxnet premiere 2M and when I get 130-160Kbps download, I'm happy.

I have complained since the premiere service started and had many visits from maxnet service men, but nothing's changed(improved).

Now I just try to settle with what I am getting.

I wasn't sure which ISP and plan Monty was using, but I seem to have one less hop than he reported. I believe the non-Indy TT&T plans have less hops and/or less latency. For easy comparison, here's what he posted:

That web page for Phuket is very interesting. Would be nice to have one for each area, like Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, etc.

From the "Offers from TT&T MaxNet" I find it hard to believe that they've actually *improved* the attenuation rates. When I first signed up about four years ago for MaxNet the programs had different names, but here's what I was told:

MaxNet@Home (now Indy): sharing = 40 (number users per acct = 1)

MaxNet@Life: .......... sharing = 10 (number users per acct = 1-5)

MaxNet@SME: ........... sharing = 5 (number users per acct = 1-10)

MaxNet@Biz: ........... sharing = 2 (number users per acct = 5-20)

To go from 40 users to 20 users for Indy is quite an improvement.
