Hi,

I'm leaving for Thailand on the seventeenth of February for tourism. I wanted to double check with you guys to make sure I have all necessities to enter Thailand for twenty eight days. I have the plane tickets of coarse, a passport valid for longer then six months, ID, 1500 US dollars to enter with (Will travelers cheques in US dollars be enough to prove that?) and as far as I understand I do not need visa to enter Thailand because my stay is shorter then 30 days. I am American and I'm 19 years old.

No problem, they usually give an immigration form to complete before landing in Bangkok. Just fill that out, present to the immigration people and you will get a "permitted to stay" stamp in your passport and part of that form for departure, will be stapled in your passport. Probably won't be asked about plane tickets or money. Have fun and enjoy your vacation.

You've got it covered as long as your "plane tickets" include your ticket for onward travel out of Thailand within 30 days of arrival. Go through the "Nothing to Declare" area in customs....unless of course you do have something to declare...which isn't likely.

One piece of advice: Don't try to apply your western morals and/or values about the people, places and things you see. You will enjoy the trip much more if you just accept that you "aren't in Kansas anymore" and it is their country and they run it however they want. Vehicles will not stop if you are in a crosswalk etc. Enjoy Thailand for what it is.

Use common sense, be safe and have fun.

Regards

In my arrivals from Europe the immigration officers NEVER wanted to see any money or funds and NEVER wanted to see a return ticket.

True. But the ailine might.

The airline check in clerk will see on his computer that the OP travels on a return ticket (so it seems from his post) within 30 days, thus no questions asked.
