My top 10 predictions for 2005:

1) Water shortages will increase, as will water pollution.

2) Traffic problems in Pattaya will increase; as will air pollution.

3) Western tourism losses will result in more busloads of junket tourist.

4) Water shortages at hydroelectric plants will cause electric power shortages.

5) Unrest in the South will continue to increase and spread North.

6) Westerners will continue unloading their condos before the baht crashes.

7) Business will look elsewhere because of energy, stability, and workforce issues.

8) If Thais don’t learn English, they will be “forced” to learn Chinese.

9) Crime/corruption in Pattaya will increase to point of Bangkok getting involved.

10) Beach Road will still be under construction at this time next year, and the year after, and the year after, and the year after...

taxi prices will rise because of fuel costs

the baht will fall but so will the US dollar

The new airport will not open on time

the skytrain to the new airport will be years behind

Places of choice are Russia, LoS and Oz. I'm flying out tomorrow, back on Jan 31, so I'll be off the air, so to speak, unless there are good internet facilities around. Nice and cold, yergottaluv the English lust for crap weather. :o

One thing I'm sure of is that it can't get much worse than 2004.

My predictions:

- legislation is passed in Bangkok to allow casinos to open in designated areas (to stimulate interest in potential tourists)

- on the days immediately preceding election day, Thaksin promises free cases of Chang along with the free cows to all potential voters

- my nicotine addiction does not subside

- a few million more brain cells vanish from beneath my skull cap

- that moldy cheese in the back my fridge gets moldier

1- I will break a world record for freshwater fishing.

2- I still won't eat fish.

3- Whilst reaching into his pocket during a speech, Thaksin will accidently drop an old crumpled piece of paper on which the cameras will zoom in... the one origami bird he has signed! :D

4- I will again gain weight but will grow to an amazing 7 feet and 8 inches! :o

I think I will arrive about the 26th Feb stay 3 nights in Bangkok. Then Fucc off to Ubon For 4 nights then Samui for 5 nights then Pattaya for 5 nights then Bangkok for 5 nights. If you predicted this you are ###### amazing. Happy new year!!
