I'll be applying for my first work permit in March, I just would like to hear confirmation from some learned members re one of the criteria.

I'm talking about the required salary earned by the foreign applicant. I understand that figure to be 50,000 baht per month (totaling 600,000 baht for the year).

Now how does this figure need to be represented? Is it just the figure stated in a contract of employment issued by the Thai company OR do I require proof of the company's revenue/gross profit showing it's ability to pay the salary? This I guess would be in the form of the balance sheet.

The company has a "first (starting) year trading" Dec '07 balance sheet with zero revenue and a Dec '08 balance sheet with a profit exceeding 600,000 baht.

The main reason I am seeking clarification as to the PRECISE requirement, is that the company my not make 600,000 baht profit in these hard times of 2009. I need to know the effect this will have on my WP renewal in 2010.

Cheers.

The minimum salary requirements only apply to getting your extension of stay based on employment, not on your ability to get a WP.

Thanks for putting me straight on that Soutpeel, looks like I missed the obvious.

I've been on 1 yr non-im "O" multi's from Hull for that last couple of years. I'm back in blighty at the mo' about to apply for another one, I have the choice of applying for an "O" or a "B". Can anyone out there suggest any "obvious" advantages or disadvantages between having a non-im "B" or a non-im "O"? For example like applying for extensions of stay, (not old enough to "retire" yet BTW).

I'm sure there are some but my mind is too addled to be able to see the wood for the trees in this WP/visa/extension of stay jungle.

You can get an extension using either type of visa.

If you plan on getting a job, work permit, starting a business and etc. the B visa if you can get it is the best.
