i stumbled across this thread and i got a few nice reads on it and some nifty tips.

ever since i came here to thailand i am noticing that i am gaining a few pounds bit by bit-- i don't know if it's stress, the sugar in my noodles, the pad thai, or the milk tea, but i am definitely noticing it, and i don't like it one bit.

any good diet tips for twentysomethings like me? i am too lazy to go to the gym but i do walk around a lot especially during weekends when i go do some shopping. and it doesn't help that i see uber-thin and svelte Thai ladies cruising along! is there any way i can lose wait without giving up sweets altogether?

thanks for all the advice in advance :o

Hi there, I had good results with a diet called 'Body-for-Life' written around 10 years ago by Bill Phillips. There is a book and the program is a shamless attempt to get people to buy over-priced protein powder, but you can find out how the program works by looking at Wikipedia. BFL advocates a low-calorie diet, where you drink only water, eat six small meals per day (protein and cabs) and alternate between 40minute weight-training and 20minute cardio workouts first thing every morning.

what I've found out so far in my life is that lots of diets work, the issue is whether people can stick with them, or rather, when they get results can they continue or do they gain back their weight - very few books deal with this issue. I'd reccomend BFL because it simplifies very old, very common advice into an easy format. BFL insists that you have a free day, once per week, where you don't exercise and eat anything you want - this really helped me stick to it long term and may help you if you don't want to give up sweets!

If you want to lose weight DON'T go on a diet. Just exercise & quit eating crap. Diets do not work.

Better not to be lazy, go to the gym, suck it up dude. :)
