paulfr
I did a search and was surprised to see little on this subject. Our apt was vandalized over the New Years holiday while we were away. Building security is embarrassed but that's it. Lost cash and jewelry. Pretty sure it was an inside job too ..... grrrrrrrr !!!! Fortunately I did not lose my Passport as I had it with me. But I was wondering if anyone has gone though the replacement process. 1/ How long before you can fly again or return to the US. I assume the US Embassy will issue a temporary one if you have photocopies and credit cards identifying you. 2/ How long does it take to get a replacement Passport ?? Thanks and condolences to anyone who has lost a Passport or has been a victim of theft like we were here in LOS.
penzman
Mine disappeared last year. By the time the Canadian embassy had replaced it and I got a flight rebooked, a month had gone by. My 4 week visit to LOS became a 2 month stay
lopburi3
As spelled out on the US Embassy web site: Additional Requirements for Applicants whose Passports have been lost or stolen:1. Applicants must present the original Thai police report concerning the circumstances of the loss or theft; and 2. Applicants must complete an Affidavit of Loss or Theft (available at the ACS Office). Note on Emergency Travel: as mentioned above, replacement passports generally take two weeks to process. In cases of emergency travel, where waiting two weeks for the passport will cause undue hardship, the Consular Section is authorized to print a limited validity passport that cannot be extended.
