I know that you have all probably heard these questions numerous times and I apologize if this one seems redundant. I am a single mother over 40 from the United States and I wish to move my youngest son (age 13) to Thailand. I would like for him to experience a different culture. How hard is it going to be for me to do this long term and how difficult would it be for him to adjust to the culture there? Any insights, advice, or just thoughts would be most appreciated. Thank you very much.

If this is really what you want. He could go to school and get 12 monthly stay based on his education. You could get 12 monthly stays as the mother of a child in school.

See the Police Order containing the laws on Extenensions. 2.8 and 2.9 for him. 2.11 for you.

Thank you very much for the help. If you don't mind could I ask another question here? Am I going to need copies of his father's death certificate for the visa application?

I would not have thought so.

You will need to get Visas from a Thai Consulate in US. To enter Thailand and get the ball rolling . Contact them and see what they will issue you with. Always better to speak to a Thai Consulate than an Embassy as they are a bit more user friendly.

Not sure about your nearest one in Georgia but Huston has a good reputation.

I'll give them a call, hopefully it won't take too long I would like to get him enrolled before the next school year starts here. I appreciate your help. :o
