Hi All,

need help for some visa questions.

I have a VISA Type B (business) in my Passport valid until 14. April this year. The immigration at the airport stamped date of leaving th country is the 4 th of April. (Normaly I can stay 90 days for each trip. Actaully it should be the 4th of june) Is this corret ? Can I extend this visa for 90 days ? Normaly the duration of one stay is 90 days, but in this case 90 days will be longer then the vaildity of the visa.

I ask this question because I want to apply for a long stay Visa at the immigration in my town where I stay at the moment. ( I just stopped work for my company and want to stay in Thailand the whole year. I am 53 years old).I know normally I should have an Type O visa in my Passport-than everything is easy. The lady at the immigration told me that I have to go first to the immigration BKK an ask for an extension untill the 6th of June. In June I can come back and can ask for an long stay visa. Now I am a little bit confused if this is correct ? Why she can not extend my VISA Type B or do now the permitt for long stay?

Thank you for help.

I am sorry but I have no idea what Visa you have now. Is it a Multi Entry Non B or is it a Single Entry.

Also a Non Imm O-A Visa can only be applied for in your own country. Not in Thailand.

You are talking about a 12 month extension of stay based on retirement. We really have to know what Visa you have at the moment.

Here are the rules for extensions. The rule for retirement is 2.22

If you now have a Non Imm B Visa you can apply if you meet the financial reqirements.

Lite Bear thank you very much for your answer ! At the moment I have a multiple entry Non immigration VISA Type B which expires 14th of April 2009. Financial requirements I did last year ( deposit of 800.000 Baht on a Thai bank).

I am sorry but I still do not understand what you now have.

A Multi Entry Non B Visa does not need money in the bank.

A 12 month extension for Reirement needs 800,000 Baht in a bank.

Sorry for my confusing informations. At the moment I have a Multi entry NON B Visa which expires on 14th April 2009. I want to stay here in Thailand and want to have a new Visa Type O "A" ( long stay). I know, If you want to do this , normally you come in with a NON O visa and apply then for long stay. In my case I come in with multi entry NON B and want to do the same for long stay.

Additional confusing for me was, that on my arrival on the 4th march at the airport they stamped only 30 days duration for my visit in my Passport. (should be 90 days) So I went today to BKK immigration and changed this to 4 th of June which was very easy ( if you know how to do) and cost no money. Just go to counter 519 (ground floor) called "Stamp correction" and ask for the change. The lady also told me in June I can go to my local Immigration office and ask for the wanted long stay visa. (Can not do in BKK). All people at the immigration were very friendly. Dont need to wait too long. I think , for the moment everything is o.k. I will see in June what happens. Thank's again for your support.

A Non-Immigrant "O-A" long stay (retirement) visa is only available from your home country, it can't be obtained in Thailand. If you have a valid Non-Immigrant visa you can get a 1 year extension of stay based on retirement from immigration in Thailand if you meet the requirements.

HERMABA, so you currently have permission to stay until 4 June 2009 based on your arrival in Thailand with your non-B visa. Any time during the last 30 days of this permission to stay, go to your local immigration office and apply for an annual extension of stay for the reason of retirement. You must meet the financial requirements outlined in clause 2.22 of Police Order 777/2551.

The most confusing is that they gave you a Non-B (Business visa) instead of a Non-O ( Other category ).
