Hi, I am from Europe (EU country) and my parents live in Thailand (they have work permits and own a resort).

I have heard that it is possible for my husband and I (along with our child) to get visa's based on the fact that we are their dependents. Is this still true? What are the requirements?

We are currently in Thailand on 60 day visas and need to get this new visa sorted out quite urgently.

I would be very grateful if anyone knows anything about these visas.

I'm afraid that dependent children must be under 20 years old and unmarried. Grandchildren are not mentioned in the rules, therefore excluded from consideration.

So the only way for us to stay would also be to get a work permit? What does that entail? And do we both have to get one?

For a WP you need to find a job first. Not all jobs are open to foreigners and it would depend on wether a Thai person good do the job. Next you ned to have a salary of a minimum of 50,000 a month, unless you will go and teach. Then no minimum salary is required.

Only one of you need a WP, the other and your child can be dependends.

If your child goes to school in Thailand 1 of the parents can be a dependend of the child, if that parent can show 500,000 in a Thai bankaccount.

Okay, thanks... BUT we do not want to find a job. My parents own a new resort and we will live here. My husband has a business in Europe which will continue to run. Will this income count as he will earn more than 50,000 baht in euros per month?

The child is only 2 months old, so she does not yet go to school.

The Child while technically being on overstay will not be fined or deported so she is ok for a while.

How old are you and your Husband? If over 50 can get Retirement Extensions.

Can always join a Thai Language school and get Education Visas. See the sponsers at the top of this page.

You may be able to get Non Imm Visas from a neighbouring country, but would have to do a border run every 90 days. You would be able to get Tourist Visas from a neighbouring Country but again this would require border runs.

Again , how old are you and what country are you from?

These are the regulations for 12 Month Extensions. Have a look and see if you qualify for anything. If you do not then you are left with Visas and border runs every 90 days.

I'm 27 and my husband is 35, I'm Italian and he is South African.

Can't we get work permits based on the fact that we are invested in my parent's business?

You need a Visa to enter the Country. You need a permision to stay stamp to stay.

You need a Work Permit to Work.

All you can hope for is a Non Imm O Visa Multi Entry from a Neighbouring Country to Visit your Family. This is Valid for a year and gives unlimited entries with a maximum stay of 90 days at a time. Meaning you would have to leave and come back again every 90 days. The chances of getting this locally are not high.

You should be able to get a single entry, giving you a 90 day stay.

You will be able to get Tourist Visas locally giving 60 day stays and can be extended at Immigration for a further 30 days for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

The problem is that you do not qualify for annual extensions.

The only other thing I can think of is if your Parents can employ your Husband as a Manager or something, get a Work Permit and B Visas or Anual Extensions that way. Hopefully someone will know more about that than I do.

I suggest a Non-Immigrant O Visa with multiple entries. This visa will allow you to stay in the Kingdom for up to one year (possibly 15 months but cannot verify that). You will however need to make what I call Taco Bell. It's an American thing...A run for the border every 90 days...not 91, not 3 months, 90 days. At the final run near the expiration of the visa you may (I have heard) get an additional 90 days for a total of 15 months after which you will need to leave the country long enough to get new visas.
