1. Is it very hard to drive around the CDB in such a large vehicle? you have some very small roads and cramped turns, especially in those sub sois

2. It just looks so much safer. Its like you are driving a tank and that has to be a good thing with all the drunk driving in the world today.

Overall, I am not a car guy so would love opinions on this car. Any idea on the mileage?

The car is great, gives about 12 km/liter outside BKK, and i guess 9-10 km/l inside BKK

take the diesel though

lot's of room, good audio, the only problem is that lot's of farang have one.

On the safety side, i don't think it's that safe, compared to an X3 or something alike

the cramped turns are easy, the fortuner turns very short.

Like most farang, you won't have trouble parking or whatever, although thai people usually have difficulty with that.

Go to a parking lot at any place in thailand; whenever you see a car parked with the front side in first, it's a farang, whenever it is in the parking place backwards, it's not a farang (usually)

I live in Bangkok and have a 2.7 petrol Fortuner. At first, I too was concerned that driving such a large car would be difficult in Bangkok. I have been pleasantly surprised. I find the driving to be very easy. As mentioned it has a short turning radius. I don't think sois present anymore problem for me in the Fortuner than if I had bought a Camry or Accord. I do have to admit though that the parking garages can be a challenge. Fortunately, most of them have attendants that will guide you into the space. I think the reason parking seems more challenging than in a sedan is because the Fortuner sits higher than a sedan - have to get used to the different perspective.

One of the reasons I chose the Fortuner over other SUV models is due to its performance in crash tests. I watched crash test videos on YouTube. The Fortuner was very impressive compared to other models.

Whatever vehicle you choose don't forget - watch out for the motorsais.

I'm driving in Bangkok with a Toyota Fortuner Smart and I think it's a great car. Your sight is very good compared to a smaller car, also easy to get people to move when you are coming in a big car. Feel very safe in it as well. Been driving into the smaller sois with it without problem, thanks to my stupid gps who finds shortcuts, I prefer to stay on the big roads.

Usually you can program the GPS to use main roads and avoid minor roads. Just a thought.

I like the Fortuner. Sure are lots of them on the road. The perspective is better riding higher.

Think I will get a truck though.

Fortuner might have smaller turning radius because of technical restrictions on pickups and pickup based SUVs. I remember reading that they were removed just in time for Fortuner, but can't say for sure if the same rule doesn't apply to regular Vigos as well. They might still require to have a certain minimal length between axels.
