Strong Leg Cramp,

Featured Replies

I woke at about 3AM this morning with what I thought was a cramp in my left calf muscle. However it refused to go away with the normal massage and stretching, I was in agony for some minutes :o

It finally subsided and I went back to sleep. This morning I can still feel some discomfort at the site.

I've never felt the result of a cramp hours afterwards, should I be worried??

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I have felt it if its a real bad cramp sure... i mean your muscles could hurt then. I dont think its something to worry about. You might have a hurt muscle.. takes a few days but goes away.

I used to get bad cramps at night and indeed some would linger for a long while (next day). Are you drinking plenty of water? I now drink enough so have to get up once or twice a night and have avoided any cramps since doing this.

Its not only about water but more about the minerals your loosing. There are packages you can mix with water to replenish the loss of minerals.

If your drinking a lot and sweating a lot you might just loose too many minerals.

Suspect it is more about the water in my case as do not sweat that much typing on the computer in an air conditioned room. It also helps prevent those painful stones that develop when there is stagnant flow (which is my primary reason for increased water intake). :o

Eat a banana which is high in potassium which helps relieve leg cramps. You can google it to find out more.

Crossy do you exercise regularly?? I myself used to get bad cramps in the leg and would not feel 100% till the next day....I`m only 21 and was worrying...

But basic exercise has helped alot together with stretching.......

check with a good pharmacy,i think mineral supplements of magnesium and calcium would help.the cramping is caused through lack of blood flow and the muscles seize up,drink more fluid, water and electrolite.good idea to google on the net to get good advice.

I had this problem for a while too, always specifically in the calf. The muscle would 'lock up' right around when I would wake up and hurt the rest of the day. I agree with the above to make sure you have enough potassium. I also found Ginkgo and Gota Kola helpful.

:o
