I need a little help maybe.

I am married to Thai women. We live in USA now.

But we are planning and saving to come back soon.

I want to get marriage visa where I would only happen to keep 400000 in bank.

In the past in USA i had some problems with the law and do have a record.

I saw somewhere saying I have to have a police check and clean record.

What is the real deal?

What are my options?

To stay in Thailand on Yearly extensions based on Marriage you do not need Police Reports.

The Rules

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

No police report needed to apply for the visa (at a Thai consulate)

No police report needed to apply for the annual extensions of stay (at your local immigration office in Thailand)

Therefore, nothing for you to worry about.

You only need a Police Report if you apply for a Retirement Visa O-A at a consulate outside Thailand.

Extensions based on retirement or marriage done in Thailand do not require it. :o

Well I do not understand completely.

Should I apply for a visa in USA and then just do something like extension once that visa expires based on marriage?

Just what are the reg. and how to go about it.

Please someone with lesson may answer because it all seems too complicated.

Thanks in advance.

You apply for a non-immigrant visa in the states based on marriage. Then once in Thailand you can get an extension of stay for 1 year and every year after when you have 400,000 baht in a Thai bankaccount. The money has to be there 2 months before applying for the extension. So open your bankaccount directly after you arrive in Thailand.

Note that as a returning Thai citizen your wife can import the household goods duty free. So if you ship things do it in your wife's name.

As said, get a Non Imm O Visa in US. As soon as you arive in Thailand open a bankaccount and deposit 400,000 Baht. Within the last 30 days of your stay go to Immigration and apply for a 12 month extension.

Asuming you are using the bank deposit route you will need.

Marriage Certificate. Wife's ID Card and house registration. Letter from the bank certifying the bank balance. Up to date bank book with the same balance. Passport. Photos of you and your Wife together in and around the house in Thailand. A map to the house (sometimes they pay you a visit) 1,900 Baht Fee. This form

Copies of everything. Take the Wife with you to be interviewed.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp. Go back in a month and get the remainder of the 12 months stamp.

Nothing to it :o

So if you extend your NON-O within Thailand, do they give you a new multiple-entry visa good for another year or just an extended stamp for 12 months? It sounds like a lot of hassle if they only give you a extended 12-month stamp. THIA.

Multi entry 3,800 Baht. Single 1,000 Baht

For someone that has a NON-O and travels a lot outside the Kingdom, then just getting a new NON-O visa from a Thai Consulate/Embassy seems like the best move then. Thanks for the insight guys.

I' on my second O visa and had a few legal issues in the past also. I have had no problems here at all. I did my Visa in New Orleans and come and go as I need for work as I still work in the Gulf of Mexico. If they give you a problem at the bank go to the next one down the road. Good luck on all.

I thought that in the case of a non (O) Immigrant visa based on marriage to a Thai wife that the applicant must have 400000 baht invested in a Thai bank 3 months prior to the application AND an income of 40000 baht per month?

To obtain a non immigrant O visa based on marriage does not require any set amount of funds (other than the normal 20k for non immigrant visa issue).

To extend your stay for a Thai wife requires 400k in a Thai bank account or 40k income - not both.
