By: BangkokPost.com

United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters rallying in front of Government House demanded the police to release one of its core members Arisman Pongruangrong immediately.

Mr Arisman led the red-shirt protesters who broke into the venue for hosting the Asean Summit and related summits on Saturday.

good idea, take him to Don Muang

put him in a cage on a military transport on the runway surrounded by police and army

let it be known to the red faction where he is

let all the reds into the airport to protest and attempt his release.

once they are all inside, declare martial law within the precincts of don Mueng, let the plane take off to a small island somewhere a long long way away and then arrest everyone in the airport for trespass and interfering with police business

strip them of weapons and mobile phones and lock them all up in an aircraft hangar

provide beds, food and water, toilets etc

process them, get all their ID's ands addresses then fine them all 10,000 baht, to be paid before release from the grounds of Don Mueng and use it for any reparations caused by the reds recent activity.

if theres any shortfall use Thaksins seized funds to make it good.

make it clear that any more damage caused by the reds will come out of Thaksins money and any repeat offenders will be going to jail

treat them fairly and civily but treat them like the criminals they are and behave like you learned some lessons from the last time this happened. (even if you haven't)

I fear that Abhisit may have taken the wrong advice again.

The shear hypocrisy of this decision makes me believe that Abhisit is not pulling the strings on this one. He is clearly being misadvised and is not in control of the situation. Cue reds storming a police station and then all bets are off. This will not in any way stop the protests or solve the problem.

I would have believed it better if with a heavy heart he had tried to order the police in to break up the remaining protester. Arresting the leaders when he has dragged his feet over the PAD heavies shows me he is not controlling this fight at all.

That would work fine :o

Other than it would clearly demostrate to the tiny percentage of people too blind or stupid to see that:

1. He was taken to Don Muang as the army base is there and they were behind two recent coups.

2. The army were backing the PAD and allowed them to over run the base last year.

3. The powers treat the poor majority in a different way to their elitist PAD minority.

4. Thaksin was right all along that the Army were behind his ousting in 2006.

5. Thailand is using the same route as Burma.

6. Most Falangs who think Thaksin was the problem, know nothing about Thailand.

I think this is exactly what the Reds want. Confirming one law for one and another law for the others depending on the the colour of the shirts.

Abhisit aint pulling any strings here. He is the one with strings attached. His ambitions is the glue that hold the strings in place. He is a pawn in this game, and is hung out for sacrifice already.

No wonder the Ron Paul supporter want the Bush solution. However that solution wouldnt make the current government any less laughing stock of the world...

Exactly. It is not a very smart move at all and will only fuel the protests more. He needs to put down the protests not arrest one guy.

Lets see if they let him out? If they let him out, the government and the police lose enormous face for having to bow to the demands of the protesters. If they don't he is a complete hypocrite. If they don't let him out, better baton down the hatches because when a bunch of people who feel wronged get together infront of armed police in most parts of the world it doesn't end nicely. Right here right now, if they don't let him out confrontation is pretty likely.

The yellow shirted PAD may have taken over the airport but as I recall they did not close it down. The decision to close operations was made by the Airports Authority of Thailand. The red shirts however did close the roads in Bangkok. That in itself is a criminal act. They also allegedly held some of the leaders of other Asian countries hostage inasmuch as they could not leave their hotels in Pattaya.

So we are not dealing with like for like.

Thailand to prosecute protesters

Abhisit Vejjajiva has suffered a major embarrassment

Thailand's embattled prime minister has said legal action will be taken against protesters who forced the cancellation of the Asian regional summit.

In a televised address, Abhisit Vejjajiva said that the protesters' campaign to unseat him had tipped over into illegality.

He called them enemies of Thailand and again declared he would not quit.

I thought that ridiculous and actually rather dishonest " it wasn't the yellow mob that closed down the airport but the AOT" excuse was behind us - obviously not.

Most Falangs who think Thaksin was the problem, know nothing about Thailand.

Very true, but appaling especially when considering that most of those farangs are Thailand long timers.

The only explanation I can see is that the daily brainwashing has also taken a toll on their intellect ( or that their wives are wearing the pants like for Kurtgruen of h 90).

wow! RPMcMurphy, joined today, made 4 posts and got us old timers nailed already

Abhisit has been the acceptable face of the elite putsch from the beginning.

Exactly how much power he has held is debatable, but I would say not a lot except when it comes to making the whole ensemble palatable to the outside world and some of the Thai middle classes who can't see through the quagmire.

Now the cracks are beginning to appear and it is becoming clear for all to see what the components are. The only question now is that when everything is visible how the game is played.

Personally I don't think there is the willpower in either the army or the police to control great numbers of protestors.

There might be the willpower up at Don Muang (which is airforce) to hold him, but I see their peripheral support from police and lower ranks dwindling away.

Whether Abhisit resigns now or not is fairly inconsequential as it is now obvious he doesn't run the show. If he does resign he will be replaced with a military hardliner and that will provoke things further.

Tight spot however you look at it.

Abhisit says red-shirted rallies became illegal since Thursday

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Sunday that the red-shirted rallies turned illegal since they blocked roads in Bangkok on Thursday.

Speaking during his weekly TV programme on Channel 11, Abhisit said it was regretful that the red-shirted movement used huge benefits of the country as hostage to push for its interest.

He said the red-shirted movement also used the summit of Asean leaders with dialogue partners as hostage at the cost of the country.

Believe me, if no PAD is in jail until today, no one can do anything to Arisamun.

He led the reds into a resort to look for Abhisit after the unarmed reds were injured by the blues. They left that evening. It's just that. They claimed that Abhisit ordered the shooting:

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingne...ed-shirt-leader

Via DStation, Arisamun is in Criminal Court now at Ratchada. Jatupon arrived there and is with him. Court said they don't charge anything and Police can only keep Arisamun for another 48 hours.

Many taxis stopped there to block the street. Many reds are there and showed the Sorry signage for causing traffic inconvenience.

No wonder the Ron Paul supporter want the Bush solution. However that solution wouldnt make the current government any less laughing stock of the world...

of topic i know:

if the world had listened to Ron Paul we would not be in the financial mess we are in now

he predicted this global meltdown as far back as 10 years ago in print, on tape and in congress

he been a thorn in the side of greenspan and bernanke for many years.

its offensive to put the traitor bushs names in the same sentence as Dr. Paul

OK at least - finally, (albeit shutting the stable door............) - the present government have the balls to take action against law breakers. Thats more than the former government did!
