Sachs X-road 250

You have a Husqvarna 250, than for you would be happy to know that the rear suspension for the 2009 Husqvarna WR250 is made by Sachs... (in China)

For the CRF150, I never mentioned that Honda model, it doesn't fit the discussion as we talking about a 250cc motorcycle with very similar engines to the Sachs X-Road 250 or Tiger Boxer 250 RS.

All 2009 models of the famous Japanese manufacturers I have talked about have very similar engines, 230 to 249cc, single-cylinder, SOHC 2-valve, air-cooled, compression ratio of 9.1:1 (or near), all comparable to what Tiger and Sachs will offer soon in the 250cc motorcycle class.

Hi Imaneggspurt,

So we concluded that all your comments regarding the technology of the Tiger motorcycle's, Kawasaki D-Tracker, and the upcoming Sachs bike is nothing compared to your own motorcycle?

You ride a Husqvarna 250cc, which is a two-stroke, and the technology of the two-stroke engine has not changed that much since the 19th century (we now live in the 21st Century).

You could say that the Husqvarna 250cc can blast my Honda CRF450 out the dirt, and you probably very right, you can even say that the Husqvarna 250cc would probably accelerate near as fast as my 1 liter bike, and again you probably right. Still it is old technology....

WRONG again im afraid ,my husky came with ohlins ( sweden ) .2 strokes are still winning most off road events in moto x and enduro its true, but i never have said compare with my bikes, there isnt a comparison is there ? .anyway this wil be my last comment on the subject as ive no interest in any of the bikes mentioned,.by the way i went back 200 years and couldnt see one 2 stroke motorcycles mentioned ! , but i did see a bike mentioned in the bible !. Sorry I was not wrong Imaneggspurt,

The 2009 Husqvarna WR250 suspension is made by Sachs... it is clear that you not have the latest model. And, yes, as I wrote before a two-stroke is powerful, I even give you credit that you can win from my CRF450, and give me some serious acceleration competition on my one liter bike... Still a Neanderthal'er was much stronger then the modern men, still they all died out...

Still Husqvarna will probably continue building two-stroke lawnmowers, they pretty famous for lawnmowers....

The principle of the two-stroke engine as we see today, was first introduced in 1881, and since then the engine has not evolved. The metal skills and alloys are the biggest change in the two-stroke engine, over the 128 years that the two-stroke is in production.

Yamaha's Power Valve System was as big of a change as metal/alloy skills... 500cc MotoGP smoker powerplants didn't much resemble the 1881 model... If y'all want to see the pinnacle of two stroke tech today check this site... The Two Stroke Shop!!!

Reading this thread, I realize how much I love bikes. A 250 cc enduro should do nicely. The ultimate test might be whether rental businesses are buying and keeping the new Sachs. Twenty years ago, I was observing which bikes motorcycle messengers in London rode.

Fond memories of even lousy bikes like the East German made MZ-300 (stock was 250 cc) come up.

Sachs won't make it if the bike is bad. There are enough substandard bikes around and people who bought a Platinum will realize that price isn't everything.

And I look forward to hearing from Charlie, Kano 85 (?) of how his Tiger Boxer 250 RS is performing in 2011 with then 51388 km on the clock.

i'm the first to confess that I really want many different bikes for different purposes. With passion, a lot can be done. I took my RD 350 on a tour to Spain or rode a XR 600 500 km on a motorway. After 10 hours in the saddle of a SR 500, even an overdose of Viagra would be wasted.

Sure - many will say

why ride a single / why ride a twin / why ride a 2-stroke etc. But hey, riding different bikes brings out different emotions and experiences. I'll never forget riding a small Guzzi. The engine resembled a living beast. At any speed, any ride was very memorable!

It would be boring if we all fell in love with the same type of girl or bike. Variety is good. I welcome the new Sachs and hope it will turn out to be a good bike!

Chris

Exactly.. My current ideal stable would be.

Blade streetfighter for hooning.

500 Tmax for going out in T shirt and flip flops to 7/11 or the bar.

250 - 450 crosser for playing in the hills.

Talking to someone about a deal on a crosser now.. so if that was to work out that just leaves the T Max.

There was a Sachs X-Road 250 on display at the Bangkok Motorbike Show that caught my eye-

Sharp looking bike IMO. I didn't see a price, but I imagine this could be good competition for the Kawasaki D-Tracker.

I could definitely see one of these in my garage icon_mrgreen.gif

If this X-Road 250 comes out near 100,000 Baht (that's the rumored price) and has decent hp/torque I think it will be a winner for sure. The restricted Kawasaki D-Tracker is a real dog, and even de-restricted it's still rather underpowered.

A few more pics-

Good lookin' bike! icon_cool.gif

Really the only thing I don't like is the tiny and cheap looking digital display...

Specs:

Will visit the Tiger/Sachs factory in March for a test ride and I expect we'll know price and sales date at the Bangkok Motor Show if not earlier.

Ride On!

Sachs is surely not in a hurry with the X-Road 250. I have seen this motorcycle now for almost 3 years, okay they changed the wheel and engine color to black... but all it's still the same bike.

In Germany the X-Road is already replaced by the Z-serie, had something to do with a conflict with name registration, the Sachs ZZ is the supermoto and the ZX is the enduro model. Any email to the German Sachs head office and you get an polite email back that Sachs has no X-Road 250... What does that mean? Who knows, you guess is as good as mine...

P.S. For the Ducati Monster lovers, the new Sachs ZZ has not the same chassis what makes it so good looking

The bike in your pic looks cool, but only 125cc? :)

It's quite a nice looking bike, but for the extra money I'd go with the proven KLX250 if I was in the market for an enduro bike. With Sachs I'd be worried about build quality, availability of spares, ability to re-sell etc.

Always good to have extra options though.

So if the x road 250 isn't on any of the global sachs websites and isn't even recognised by their head office is it some sort of copy? The only results for it when typed in google or any other search engine are thaivisa.com the sachs Chinese branch!

Sachs from China?

Copy would make me shiver!

Lets hope that the X-Raod is the same as our X-Road... :D :D

Maybe, but just maybe the Chinese had problems with writing the Name correct, it should be Sucks X-Raod, not Sachs.

Happens all the time with them :)

Was hoping Tiger Sachs Thailand would do something like this with the X-Road 250; using wheels, guard, exhaust, tank and seat from a KTM 125 race concept. I hope Sachs haven't missed the boat with the X-Road 250, now that Honda has their 250 coming out at a very competitive price. Hopefully Sachs will surprise us in the early New Year!

I would really like to buy one of the X-Road 250 - do you have any idea of a release date - I can wait a short while - but if its over 6 months into 2011 - then I must buy myself some other transpo - this would be a great disappointment
