Hi, my 90 day report is due on the 12th May. My annual retirement renewal (this is the first renewal), and re-entry visa are both due on 27th May. As I live in Phetchabun, I have to go to the Nan Immigration office.

As I understand it, I can renew my 90 day stamp in person at Nan, 7 days before or after the due date. I can also renew my retirement & re-entry visas up to 30 days earlier than their due date. Is this correct?

When I get to the office I plan to renew in the following order, 90 day, retirement and then re-entry, as I figure I’ll need the 90 day stamp to renew the retirement visa, and I’ll then need to renew the re-entry visa, as I plan to go out of Thailand sometime in the next couple of months. Again, is this what you’d recommend?

I don’t want to wait in the wrong queues, as we’ll be traveling to Nan, renewing my visas, then traveling back to Phetchabun.

I will take copies of :

1. my passport photo page,

2. retirement stamp page,

3. re-entry stamp page,

4. the original of my previous 90 day renewal letter, (there has only been 1 report),

5. the form for retirement, with photos,

6. the form for 90 day reporting with photos,

7. a medical form signed by our local doctor, (which apparently Nan still ask for),

8. a letter from my Thai bank, (dated next Tuesday, 12th May), stating the amount in my account, (over 800,000 Baht), and that it

has been transferred from the UK, and has been in the bank for 15 months.

9. My Bank book, showing the same amount in the account as the letter,

10. My Thai marriage certificate,

11. My UK passport.

12. ATM stubs showing withdrawals from UK bank, to show how I can afford to live here, without using the 800,000 in the Bank.

My wife (Thai) will be going with me, last year at Bangkok, she had to sign a form to say I could live at her address.

Is there anything I’ve forgotten on this list?

I don’t want to spend all day traveling back and forward to Nan to end up disappointed by not having the correct paperwork.

I believe that Monday is a Bank Holiday, so the plan is to go to Nan on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the availability of our local taxi.

Any advice on the above will be gratefully received, thank you.

Copies of passport should be. Photo page, visa, entry stamp, pernit to stay stamp, stamp for last extension. You don't need re-entry stamp page. If you have left and returned since your last extension you should have copy of all entry and permit to stay stamps since then.

Copy of TM6 departure card.

Copies of bank book pages. Bank book needs to be updated to match letter date. Some offices want it to be updated the same day as you do the application.

No photos are needed for 90 day report.

ATM stubs should not be needed unless you show no activiey in your bank book.

I would do the letter from the bank the day before you go for the extension.

Thanks for the help ubonjoe,

Due to the distance to Nan from Phetchabun, (6-7 hours travelling I believe), I don't think it's possible to

have the bank letter & book updated on the same day as I apply, so I'll take your advice & get it the day

before we travel. I'm taking the ATM stubs, as the only activity in the bank book is for interest added

(and tax deducted :) ).

Out of interest, if by some chance I'm refused, (my glass is always half empty), what is the procedure

then? Can I appeal ?

There was rumours somewhere on the internet, can't remember where, that Phetchabun would be getting

it's own Immigration office, but no sign of it as yet, unfortunately.

They won't refuse your extension because you meet all the requirements. Retirement extensions are probably the easiest to get.

The only thing would be if you were short a copy of something.

You probably will pass by a bank on the way where you can do an update of your book. But the day before should normally be ok. Some want to see an update to be sure you didn't take the money out as soon as your got the letter.

Thanks again for the helpful advice. Sorry for the delay in replying, we've had thunderstorms for most of

the afternoon and evening, and the missus worries if I'm on line while there's lightning about. :)

I would imagine there will be a Bangkok Bank branch in Nan, in case I do have a problem, I'll try and check

it out before we go. If any Nan residents have information on this, or directions from Nan immigration to

the Bangkok Bank branch, that might be helpful to both myself and others in future.

Again, thank you very much for all your help, it's much appreciated.

Call the branch first and see if they will be able to help you. Some banks only help you with a letter at the branch you have your account!

Hi again, Thanks for all of the help so far, the plan is to phone the bank tomorrow, and arrange with them to go on Wednesday, to get the letter and also get the passbook updated, ensuring of course, that both amounts are the same.

I'm presently getting all of the paperwork together, and haven't got a copy of the actual form for retirement extension. I've looked on both this site and Thai immigrations' website, have downloaded almost every form available, but none look like the one I completed last year. I got this from Hull UK office and it had retirement stamped on it.

I kept copies of everything I used last year, but sections my hard disk on the computer failed and I have lost several files that I know of already, and now this form appears to have gone. Could you tell me the number of the form to use for retirement, and where I can get one? Thank you.

As Hull has nothing to do with immigration extensions of stay and do not even process retirement OA visa applications now wonder what you are staying in Thailand on. Do you make 90 day exits and return? Have you extended your stay once already? Did you obtain a retirement OA visa from the London Embassy and get a one year permitted to stay stamp on arrival?

Would greatly appreciate an update once you have been to Nan for your extension, I will go in a couple of months for retirement extension - being forewarned is forearmed when it come to dealing with another office - I have previously (7 years) dealt with Suan Plu.

Thanks.

Thanks again for all the helpful advice.

Lopburi 3, Good to see you back, I am now on a retirement visa, the TM 7 I got originally from Hull last year, and they had stamped "retirement' on it, because I'd told them I was going to apply for retirement here. It turned out, as you state, that Hull cannot provide retirement visas, although I had been led to believe by them, that I could apply for retirement visa while in Thailand, based on money I had in a UK bank. It turned out at the time, from reading other posts on here, that Iwas not the only one who'd been wrongly told this. I ended up transferring the 800000 Baht from the UK to here in Jan 2008, and got my retirement stamp at Bangkok in May 2008.

As for the 90 day reports, I had to return to the Uk from July to November 2008, and have made only 1 90 day report so far in Feb 2009. I am doing my current 90 day report (due today), on Thursday 14th, in person, when I am also hoping to renew my retirement and re-entry visas.

I arrived in November 2007 on a 0ne year multiple entry visa, (married to a Thai lady), which I got from Hull.

Hope this clears up your questions, if not please fell free to ask again - the more information we all share, the better for everybody, in my opinion.

Am I right in thinking it's best to have copies of passport pages in black & white, as some have been refused for supplying colour copies?

Ubonjoe listed these as required copies "Copies of passport should be. Photo page, visa, entry stamp, pernit to stay stamp, stamp for last extension. You don't need re-entry stamp page."

The photo page and entry stamp I understand, but can you please clarify these

visa, (retirement stamp?), permit to stay stamp, stamp for last extension ( bottom of 90 day report form, returned from bangkok immigration?).

Could you also tell me the fees for retirement extension stamp and multiple re-entry stamp.

Thank you

Artisi - I'll be happy to pass on my experiences at Nan, will post over the weekend.

I set my copies to gray last year - they had never questioned my color copies but that was a hit of the month for some (as they equated color copies as the same as forgeries).

Believe the pages you question will be the original non immigrant O visa page (if you still have), any transfer to new passport information, last extension of stay stamp page, last entry stamp, departure card. Have not copied TM.47 (90 day report) before but will have it available.

4x6cm photo that are newer than any in there file (they were checking this closely last year).

Cost is 1,900 baht for TM.7 (extension of stay) and 3,800 baht for multi re-entry permit.

I will be at Nan immigration also on Thursday. No bank account, only a 4 week old embassy letter. We'll see how this works out. Everything (?) else I have. If I run into some kind of trouble I also will inform the forum

They might want to see a bankbook, showing you have some money to spend in Thailand. They do ask for that when aplying for a marrriage extension with embassy letter.

Sorry I did not give the complete information. I also go for retirement extension, but as I have enough pension, I will use the embassy letter.

In case of problems I still can show a Thai bank account on my name.

Thanks middelman, Nan office does seem to be the great unknown, not much posted so far since the changes in february. Good Luck!

I would do the letter from the bank the day before you go for the extension.

I have just been to the Bank to get my letter and book updated - today the 13th, however I cannot get to Nan immigration until next Tuesday 19th to renew my retirement extension.

Should I be concerned?.

I have a fixed account passbook and any withdrawals would show up in the book anyway, you cannot make ATM withdrawals with this type of account.

One bonus with getting the letter at your local branch, the letter was free! .HQ Bangkok Bank in Silom would charge you for the statement letter.

Previously I always went to Suan Plu, now with the changes its all the way up to Nan.

Anyone have any driving directions to the immigration office once you get into Nan???

WeeGB, same as you, I will also do the re-entry, I am not driving 1000km's to get one at a later stage.

Also I want to check out the 90 day business with them.

You could have problem with it dated that far ahead of time. There have not been enough reports to say for sure. Bangkok bank from info in reports will give you a leter at any branch so if they don't take it you should be able go to the branch there and get another letter.

You should still stop at a branch and do an update of your book before going to immigration.

Also since it is a fixed term account they may want to see another bank book that shows some deposit and withdrawal activity.

See this werpage with maps of immigration office locations.

hi, I've just been re-reading sailored's topic, where he says that Nan require 2 copies of every document, is this still the case? I'm going for 90 day report, retirement & re-entry visas.

Am I right in thinking the only documents I need for the re-entry visa is my passport, (complete with retirement stamp), & the form (Including photos).

Cheers

His was a marriage extension. For your retirement extension it will be one set.

You are correct about the re-entry permit.

Thank goodnes for that, thought the printer was going to be on overtime, especially as we're leaving at 2 am.

Incidentally went to the Bangkok Bank (Phetchabun) today, filled in the form, and had the Bank letter and passbook updated and ready for Immigration tomorrow in 15 minutes.

Thanks again for your help, will post my experiences when we return, after I've had my fish & chips on Friday. :)

We went to NAN yesterday. We headed straight to the Immigration office, just to find out their working hours as it was already 4 pm.

My wife went inside and came back right away to call me to come inside.

Less than ONE hour later we walked outside with:

-Retirement extension

-Re Entry permit

-Two residence certificates

The staff worked overtime completing the paperwork just to avoid we had to come back the next day.

This is really UNSEEN THAILAND !!

The staff was indeed very friendly and helpful. We had a nice chat with all of them. Do not think they are not professional. Every document was checked and re checked.

Great experience!!!

FYI the office boss told me they were also not very happy to have to serve such a large territory.

He confirmed the decision was taken to open a immigration office in Phetchabun.

Unhappily he did not know when

Thanks and congratulations

Can you confirm they still require the medical certificate ?

Also that they are not any more located in front of the airport ?

A medical certificate is still needed. No problem, every hospital in Thailand will give you one , just asking what time it is. Find on the forum for the location of the immi office In case of problems, just let us know.

Sounds like good encouraging news when renewing extensions.

Thanks for the info.

Please confirm that a medical cert. was required for your extension as I have never needed one in 8 years of extensions.

As promised this is our experience of Nan immigration. Firstly, I must agree with middelman, the staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. We arrived at 8.30 am, and were finished by 9.25, after completing 90 day report, retirement visa renewal, and multiple re-entry permit.

Firstly the route, travellers are advised to take extreme care when travelling through Uttaradit, there are major roadworks ongoing, several changes of lane are necessary, when we passed through it was torrential rain and visibility was very poor. I'd advise anyone going to Nan to set off early due to this.

If entering Nan by road 101, when you get to the junction of the 1091 road, turn left. Do not go into Nan itself. Have a look at the previously posted Google map for Nan office. The Immigration office has a large sign outside, and is on the right hand side of the road 1091, that you turned left into, about a couple of hundred yards or so along the road. Access is by driving past for about a quarter of a mile, then doing a U-turn, and coming back to the office. Car parking is at the side of the office, just before the office itself.

For the retirement stamp, I had taken a medical form, signed by our local Doctor, which he had stamped with the local clinic stamp. I asked if this was necessary, and the officer who dealt with me said this form is needed EVERY year. (Her emphasis on every).

I'd taken my Bank book, but had not photocopied it, the officer wanted copies of all used pages, including the inside cover, which has account holder, passbook number etc on it. The officer asked my wife to copy these, while she went through the forms with me. My wife went upstairs, where another officer copied what she needed.

My wife had taken copies of our marriage certificate, house deeds, and I D, but these were not asked for. However, next year we'll still take them - just in case!

I'd taken a copy of my previous 90 day report receipt (the one Immigration sends back in the post), as well as the original, which is stapled in my passport, and they kept the copy, so it may also be as well to make a copy before you go.

The Nan office will do 90 day reports, they gave me a paper with the address on (in Thai), which I'll post later today - it's in the little ladys' handbag, which has gone with her to the market at the moment.

Hope the above is of help to others using Nan office. I'll be happy to provide any further information, if there's anything I've missed.

Thanks again to all who helped with my questions on this post.

The journey to nan is spectacular in places, at times we were above the clouds, we also did a bit of sight seeing on the way back.

MODS - it may be worthwhile adding the medical report form to the download section of the site, even if it's just for the Nan office. The one I used was PM'd to me by Krub, if you need an blank original - (I used the five diseases form which he kindly sent me), let me know and I'll upload it.

thanks again.
