Our dear friend Mr Ian Forbes is a little too shy -- pause to stifle uproarious guffaws -- to start this thread himself, so as a favour to him, I will launch it.

Mr Forbes very much wishes to know which restaurant in Chiangmai offers the best peanut butter sandwiches, and on his behalf I am seeking here your recommendations. I am unable to say whether he prefers a creamy or chunky style of peanut butter sandwich, so please offer suggestions in both categories, but be careful to note in which type of sandwich your recommended restaurant specialises.

Thank you all kindly, in advance, as I quickly duck out to avoid the kicks and blows.

Why dont you try suang prung. Im sure theyve got a nice restaurant there.

it might get you away from your computer.

Thank you very much for that, ajarnpim, on behalf of Ian, and for your concern, on my own behalf.

Could you kindly provide some directions to Suang Prung?

I've now found someone whose knowledge frightens me more than UG's knowledge about ladies of the night!

You see ... broaching dangerous & subversive territory already.

:) Bovina Sancta!

Cool! I know no Latin, and I did not even have to google that to get it! :D

I can't recall any P&J sandwiches that are listed on menus - although there might be one on the kid's menu at the D_kes - but if you get an order of toast at the Art Cafe - which comes with butter and a choice of jams - and a side order of peanut butter, you can make one yourself. However, I prefer to use a warm whole wheat or 7 grain bagel instead. :)

Thank you, UG. I will let Mr Forbes speak to whether he prefers to smother his peanut butter sandwiches with sweet jam. Having said that, my impression of the man is that he would not let a substance like sweet jam anywhere near a sandwich destined for his own mouth.

A warm bagel with cream cheese and peanut butter is tasty without being overly sweet. :)

Why do you insist on being so contentious? :D

You might add a few slices of banana if you want a milder sort of sweet or add some honey and bacon and stick it all in a deep fryer if you were an Elvis fan. :)

That would be logical, but the object is to put down the food and restaurant threads in a most witty manner and a colour does not really fit. whistling.gif

Oh. I thought the object was to intimate our thoughts on the vitality of forum moderation, which we ... must never do :):D .

I'm afraid that can be mostly blamed on the small minority of very vocal posters who are so offended by such threads. :)

I found peanut butter and foreplay extra sweet, Skippy chunk works best for me.

I studied Latin with a teacher who was so old that she spoke about Julius Caesar based on personal knowledge. She said, 'loosely translated, Julie ate Etruscan peanut butter with Mexican molé from Miguel's." That is true, or my nik is not PB.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to all those who have graciously posted on this thread so far; as they progress your posts grow increasingly on-point, on-topic and, not incidentally, interesting, which I regard as a remarkable accomplishment, one in which each of you should take great pride.

You guys are too much and our orang friend hit the nail squarely on the head. I was actually thinking of taking a photo of the various breads I use when making a PB sandwich. Thanks for my morning laugh. Hey, and thanks to Ulysses for the banana suggestion. I had forgotten about that. It is good that way.

I used to love the crunchy peanut butter until a few of my teeth broke (old age) and the little chunks got stuck in the holes. So I switched to the smooth stuff. When I saved myself $10,000 getting my teeth fixed at the Grace clinic in Chiang Mai I was able to eath the chunky peanut butter again. Although I've tried the peanut butter and jelly thing I usually just go with plain buttered 12 grain bread and a healthy smear of peanut butter. It will hold me for most of a day and I don't get hypoglycemic. It also doesn't get soggy like other sandwiches using mayonaise and tomatos.

If Fritos corn chips did not cost so much to be imported here, I would insert them in my PB PB sandwich. But potato chips (crisps) work fine. My toaster is only used for toast for PB s/w.

Jelly means jam.

Can you find real Fritos anymore? You could get them years ago and they even had copy ones in Bangkok, 20 years ago, that were only 10 baht a box, then they started importing Planter's corn chips in cans, but they vanished years ago. I eat Doritos every once in a while as a replacement, but I would be willing to pay too much for the real thing every once in a while. :)
