I suppose he should be grateful that guns and knives weren't produced.

Whatever this was about, the farang guy was obviously frustrated and relieved the frustration by slapping the bar. He had not actually threatened anybody with violence, but of course people reacted in a cowardly manner by all jumping on him after he had been sucker punched.
