With regard to the B.400.000 showing in a bank book for 2 months (or 3 depending on the officer) prior to applying for the marriage visa, can the bank book be a FIXED DEPOSIT account showing this amount or do you require to show a Bank Saving book showing the required amount plus money transactions throughout the year.

I was under the impression it did not matter what type of bank book you show so long as it has the required amount in the account for the 2/3 months prior to applying, but I have now been advised that a Fixed deposit book showing the required money is not acceptable.

Has anybody else heard of this before.

Most immigration offices will accept a fixed deposit account. But some will want to see another account showing deposits (or transfers) and withdrawls to show that you have some income.

A check with your assigned immigration office would be a good idea.

Thanks for that advise, I guess it depends on what Officer you get and what mood he is in that day.

I believe the fixed deposit will more likely be accepted for retirement rather than wife support; where they have always been interested in seeing some activity in my experience.
