May 25, 200916 yr Hello, I would love to teach in Thailand but I don't know if it is possible. I am hoping that I have a decent chance of finding a short term contract next year. You see, due to my current job contract I will be unable to move there until the end of January '10. I start my post-grad in September '10, so that only leaves a space of 7 months during which I would be able to work in Thailand. I would be happy no matter how short the contract was, even if it was just for a month or so, although longer would be better. Therefore I'm seeking any advice and information anyone could impart on the topic of short term contracts - where to look, schools, websites, etc! (By the way I have a BA Degree, TEFL and ESL teaching experience.) Thank you very much
May 25, 200916 yr That time of year it's unlikely you'd even find a school looking to hire anyone. Your best bet would be with language schools. They generally get busier at the end of the school year.
May 25, 200916 yr If you say you can only teach for 7 months then you can not in good faith sign a one year contract with a school which is the most common type of arrangement in LOS. But there are all sorts of opportunities to teach English for one month at a time with the language schools. As long as you can live on 30,000 baht/month you will be fine.
May 26, 200916 yr Author Yes, I can live on that. I was definitely not intending on signing a 1-year contract! I know that it would be work with a language school. When does the school year end/start in Thailand then?
May 26, 200916 yr Author School year starts in May, ends February. Thanks! So if I only worked there for one term, roughly when would it end? I don't mind waiting until May if necessary as there is other work I can do up till then at home.
