Can anyone tell me what the deal is with recycling facilities on the island? Are there any? I'm starting to feel more than a little bit guilty about throwing things away that I would normally recycle.

If you have a lot of small batteries, you can go to Tesco Lutos, I thing there is a rescykling bin there.

And big ones they take care of at Ohm Cycles on the Ring Road 500 metres from Bangkok Hospital direction Lamai.

There are people who drive around in pickup trucks around Maenam. (I am sure most other places too, on the island)...

If you happen to see a pickup full of mixed "junk" just flag them down! They usually drive by slowly looking for recyclable stuff .....

They'll be happy to take: bottles, cans, metal, cardboard etc etc... any scrap, they are not fussy!

I just collect my recycle in a large plastic container & now the recycle people just stop every week or two & empty it.. very easy! Once they know they will keep coming by, .... very useful!

Now if we could just train other "farangs & Thai's" to do the same, our Samui environment would be a much better place! It's not difficult!

Somewhere in the Ban Tai area there is a Recycle place on the right side heading to Nanton.
