Good News For Residence Letter ! !

I recently posted to find out about getting a residency letter from immigration and got mixed responses.

Went down today and had the easiest experience Ive ever had in Thailand to get anything so thought Id share it.

Here is the deal:

Approach the far right hand corner counter.

You need:

2 x passport pics.

1 x lease agreement or 1 x house book or 1 x letter from landlord/lady. (1 of the listed)

1 x photocopy of the following, pic page in passport, visa page (you need a non immigrant), departure card page.

Take these to the counter with your actual passport.

Fill in a form.

wait 30 minutes and pay 500 baht,

walk away with a valid residence form that lasts a month.

So easy its untrue.

Hope this helps someone who hates official places as much as me!!!!

I also got one today with no hassles at all...

As the OP said: passport and copy of relevant pages (non 'o' visa), copy of lease, two photos and 500 Baht - 15 minutes wait.

Talk in other threads of also needing the landlord's house book and ID card is not true.

Ok I stand corrected.

I can understand them issuing the letter on a 'O-A' retirement visa as they would be aware of you and you would be making regular visits.

I went last year and was told that under 50s' (non retirees) could not get one on the type 'O', good to hear this has changed!
