asiancup2007
Of all the countries I've visited Thailand would be the one where I've see the national flag displayed the most. From public buildings, businesses to whole villages in the sticks it is the final word in ubiquity. Which countries, if any surpass Thailand in this regard? ukrules
I remember seeing a lot off flags in the US last time I was there. Pretty much every house had a large flag on display out in the Chicago suburbs. This was a number of years ago though.

Rinrada
Red one was quite popular for a long time but not so many nowadays....apart from maybe Viet nam and China.... could all change of course...one day...
game4shame
the thai flags really are everywhere. I remember being bored whilst waiting outside a family mart near samui airport so I had a little spot the flag comp - can't remember exact count but I was amazed at how many were in close radius. we'd prob get arrested for flying a national flag in the UK. MarkyM3
Norway sticks in my mind. Lots of people own boats and weekend/summer cottages so lots of opportunities to fly them. It's been discouraged to do this in the UK until quite recently thanks to the politically correct view that it offends minority cultures. Thankfully, that view has changed in recent years due to a grassroots backlash. Debates about the failure of multi-culturalism etc. are also bubbling to the surface. thaimiller
In England you can't fly the St George cross flag incase it upsets the minorities, good old England, no wonder everyone is leaving.

Re the Union jack or St Georges flag......look who you have in power a gang PC looney Socialists/Communists who put citizens of the country in second place in favour of the minorities and immigrants... Jeeza Clarkson for PM, he will sort this out and get the Union Jack flying high again...
jubby
I remember seeing lots of flags on houses in Norway but it could have been the 'National' day or something. I fly the Thai flag here , something tells me it doesn't hurt , rather like having a picture of the King in the House Wouldn't dream of flying the flag of St George at home in England with all the 'shame' we English have inflicted on the world . To do so would probably get you on some goverment watch list If Thailands not no. 1 then its got to be high up there for sure

Too many Liberal do-gooders who think we are bad people for wanting to fly the flag. Ridiculously, people threatened with prosecution by the local councils for flying the flag. Nowadays it is not so bad. I see nothing wrong at all with people showing their national pride by flying their own flag and all credit to the Thai people for doing so. Often driven down the country lanes through villages and seen so many.
Jingthing
Well I have traveled to maybe 100 countries and I also think Thailand somewhere near the top when it comes to flag display. It is true during the post 9-11 hysteria/mania the USA gave them a run for their money, but that has subsided. Of course countries whipped up to a war frenzy are showing their flags a lot. bkkmick
Having grown up in Northern Ireland I can say that I have never seen any flag flown more than the Union Jack anywhere in the world. I'd say that the Thai flag flying passion pales against the loyalist passion for the Union Jack (or the 'Red hand of Ulster'.

Tod Daniels
I concur with the O/P's observation; the ever-smiling, yet diminutive inhabitants here in the glorious "Land 'O Thais" are certainly some of the most "fanatical flag flyin' folks" I've ever ran across in my life. In my travels all over this country I rarely drove more than a couple kilometers down a road, even in extremely rural and remote areas without seeing a flag or three. Although, with that being said, some of the flags were quite sunburned and wind-worn. Good on 'em I guess; fly 'em high, fly 'em proud.

Jingthing
Israel surpasses Thailand, by far. Does it? That interesting. I haven't been there. Its not very surprising really considering the endless military conflict there. Also with fluid borders and settlements, flags there may actually have a functional purpose.
