August 27, 200916 yr Is there any other options than Maxnet for an Internet connection (ADSL) when the telephone line comes from TT&T? Thanks & Regards
August 28, 200916 yr Is there any other options than Maxnet for an Internet connection (ADSL) when the telephone line comes from TT&T?Thanks & Regards We are in Phuket and the ADSL comes from TT&T. The phone line is leased by TT&T from TOT. We have had a lot of electrical noise on our phone line since it was connected in March this year. Our internet is cutting out all the time when ever there is rain or wind. My Thai wife finally lost her cool and told the landlord that we would have to move if the phone and internet could not be repaired. The landlord called TT&T and they sent technicians yesterday to install a new phone cable from our house to the main road. But on the same day, TOT called her and told her that a new phone line was available now for our Chalong area. So, I told her to go ahead and sign a contract with TOT and when the second phone line is installed, we will be able to test the internet service of both companies and choose the better service and then cancel the other phone line and company. Right now we have no phone and no internet until TT&T complete the new cable. Very frustrating!
August 28, 200916 yr Is there any other options than Maxnet for an Internet connection (ADSL) when the telephone line comes from TT&T?Thanks & Regards J-Net. Infinitely better service than Maxnet too.
August 28, 200916 yr The TT&T /TOT thing can be confusing for some people. TT&T does indeed lease some lines from TOT, but this is being phased out with TT&T installing their own lines, telephone exchanges and DSLAM's. Both TOT and TT&T have their own sets of telephone numbers. If you have a TOT line (and phone number) then you cannot get TT&T's Maxnet internet package. If you have a TT&T line then you cannot get TOT's internet packages (goldcyber etc) But, on both TOT and TT&T lines you can get other ISP's such as Csloxinfo, KSC,... So to the OP, yes you can get other ISP's, you are not locked in to Maxnet. However, before going that way, you have to make sure if the problem lies with your telephone line or with the internet provider. If your telephone line is bad (noise etc) then changing ISP will not help at all as it will still come in through the same bad line! To Thaisil, if you get a TOT line, then you cannot get Maxnet anymore, and the general consensus is that TOT's offering (goldcyber) is even worse then Maxnet! In general, Maxnet, when coming in over a decent quality phone line is pretty good, as well as having the option to upgrade to a better package (Premier)... Oh, and regardless whether you have a TOT or a TT&T line, you will always get billed by TOT, so your bill is NOT an indicator of what line you have!

Infinitely better service than Maxnet too. Not my experience with maxnet premier 3Mbit. Get 2.5 Mbit pretty much day and night, tryping this during monster rainstorms, and all at 1090 baht. The maxnet Indy is useless.
August 28, 200916 yr If you have a TOT line (and phone number) then you cannot get TT&T's Maxnet internet package. I have a TOT line and Maxnet premier..
August 28, 200916 yr Have Maxnet Premier 2 meg and it has never been as slow and as inconsistent as it currently is... surely the idea is to have connectivity moving along. I think part of the problem is the exchange here but also can't help thinking it is a shoddy company grabbing as many subscribers as possible and making it a tacky service for all. Those who are getting good service are the exception rather than the rule.

You get 3 mbit Maxnet Premier for 1090 baht/month? Wonder why I only get 2 mbit, maybe I need to go and yell at someone
August 28, 200916 yr The Maxnet 2Mbit premier package was updated to 3Mbit a few months ago so you should be updated Phil but just give them a call to find out. I have some friends up in Udon who are with TOT and they are quite happy with there service but there are a lot of people on Maxnet who are not very happy up there. My other friend in Pattaya is on TOT 3Mbit and is fed up with no service, Now I am on the Maxnet Premier 3Mbit and in my area its very good so it all depends on your location what ISP is the best. August 29, 200916 yr Author Thanks to everyone for the info. Do Csloxinfo, KSC, provide a full ADSL package or....I’m unfortunately not to knowledgeable about the technical aspect of this. Thanks
August 29, 200916 yr If you have a TOT line (and phone number) then you cannot get TT&T's Maxnet internet package. I have a TOT line and Maxnet premier.. I have a TOT line and Maxnet Indy..
August 29, 200916 yr If you have a TOT line (and phone number) then you cannot get TT&T's Maxnet internet package. I have a TOT line and Maxnet premier.. I have a TOT line and Maxnet Indy.. Nope. You may well get your bill from TOT but it is a TT&T line if you use Maxnet.
August 29, 200916 yr I'm getting 4Mbps Premier for 2200 Baht something. Full 440 kBps downloads when using download accelerator, but single connection speed seems to be limited at around 1Mbps...

You may well get your bill from TOT but it is a TT&T line if you use Maxnet. Well if I 1) have a phone line problem I call the TOT to fix it.. 2) Receive from and pay my bill to TOT.. What makes it a TT&T line ?? I have never, ever, spoken to, dealt with, or had any dealing with TT&T..

August 30, 200916 yr Author But, on both TOT and TT&T lines you can get other ISP's such as Csloxinfo, KSC,... How to proceed to get another ISP, who do I contact, Maxnet or directly to Csloxinfo, KSC..... Thanks.
August 30, 200916 yr Just looking at my TOT bill as I have never connected a phone to it, its purely for ADSL. Its an 0762.

August 31, 200916 yr Just looking at my TOT bill as I have never connected a phone to it, its purely for ADSL. Its an 0762. That's a TT&T number. TOT's begin 0763..... PS. My TT&T bill also comes on TOT headed paper. Have you not noticed the TT&T and Maxnet adverts on the bottom of your "TOT" bill?

If you don't mind helping other people out, could you run a speed test to the McAfee site in US sometime between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. and post your results. http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/ MSPain

This was at 2:20pm today. Keep in mind this is from my office which has the dubious honor of sharing Internet (see my post here) with Tukcom (the local IT center) hence our Internet always suck. http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/ indicated 200 kbps. I found that a bit low so I tried the speakeasy speedtest which reported following to SF. Download Speed: 672 kbps (84 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 490 kbps (61.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Maxnet's own http://www.maxnet.co.th/test_speed.php reported 2242/627 - that's within Thailand of course.

I get a separate Maxnet bill. I needed service.. I called the TOT helpline.. They sent a engineer.. I need to pay the bill.. TOT send me a Bill.. I go to the TOT office.. And pay it. I just find it odd how given that my only dealings, for both service and billing, are with the TOT that this can be considered a TT&T line.. I understand everyone says these are leased lines or something, but to the end user how would you ever know.

But the telephone number is the only thing I can go on to determine whether it's TOT or TT&T. When I first tried to get ADSL, I had an 0763... number and went to TOT, but they said I was too far from the exchange and would have to wait 2 months until they installed the latest equipment. I then went to TT&T who said they could give me ADSL, so I signed up for Maxnet. I nearly got it installed, but one of the techies noticed the number and said it was a TOT number, so I couldn't have it. I then got my landlord to swap my TOT line for one of his spare TT&T lines, went back to TT&T with the 0762... number and they installed Maxnet. The next time you have to get the line serviced, maybe you could ask them - is this a TT&T line or a TOT line, and who do you work for? I would be very interested to hear what they say!

I've had exactly the same experience as LivinLOS. When you talk about 0762 is that the last 4 numbers? Mine aren't the same (0626)
September 1, 200916 yr At 4.21am it's not difficult to get a good connection I've had exactly the same experience as LivinLOS. When you talk about 0762 is that the last 4 numbers? Mine aren't the same (0626) Not, it is the first 4 digits.
