Hand Tied Fishing Flies

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am interested in fly fishing and I have heard a lot about hand tied fishing flies from Chiang Mai.

I know that there are several companies located here in Chiang Mai where womens are tying fishing flies.

Does anybody in here know where these companies are located? Please. help

Regards.

I have passed your enquiry onto one such Company. I know the person in charge is busy but let's see if he gets back to you.

Is it not possible to take contact to this person?

I have interest in doing business with him.

Regards

He's not answering his phone so I suspect he's on a river somewhere. Give it a couple of days and see if he surfaces. If you wish to PM me your number I'll willingly pass it on.

Cheers

There is a small factory near Ban Wang Tan, I will stop and get a card/contact info Monday and pm info to you.

Same guy we both know?

For everyone's information, ALL fishing flies are tied by hand. It is the QUALITY of the product that varies, and that depends on the manager of the firm. I tie excellent flies myself and have been a fly designer for years, but I'm always impressed by the quality of flies that Jon's ladies produce. I'll send him an e-mail and get him to check this topic.

Flies specific to Thailand are much different to most fly patterns for other fish species in the world. We are still experimenting to come up with effective patterns for Thai fish species.

Go to the Hash Pub near the Mae Ping Hotel and leave a message for "Superman". He manages one of the factories.

Ian, yes same person. I have already mailed him and tried his phone but no joy.

I've often passed a fishing gear shop outside Rimping MeeChok

Thai-a-fly generally does export only and the product they produce is designed elsewhere with exclusives to the company marketing the product. They have over 200 staff and produce a single design in volume. If this is your idea then you need to see or call John.

I have a small fly tying operation in CM, so if you are interested <<PM me>>
